Probably, but I haven't seen him in person. I just follow his tweets.

Interesting, I was just looking up <span style="font-size:18px;Jensen Beeler.  Jesus, can this guy's motives be any more clear?  He was the first to post a comment on David Emmet's article here: http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/racing/dorna-kevin-schwantz-cota-motogp/

Notice he is trying to sell us, like Shovelhead above, that 'cutting out the middleman' is just standard acceptable business practice and we should all just move along and get over it.  Lame.

Whats up Shov?  Are you worried COTA will take away your pass to the track?  Hahaha  KS is not infallible, only the pope is that; but its abundantly clear that he's getting ...... on this one.  Did you finagle some deal with COTA or something?  Perhaps you finagled a bunch of VIP passes and are clucking (see urban dict) them and want to be sure you stay on the good graces of the track?  I know there has got to be some angle in it for you buddy.

No angle at all, Schwantz saw an opportunity and tried to take advantage of it.

Dorna have always dealt with the tracks for putting up  races,

why would they want to deal with a middleman on one of 18 races they have.

On another note...Are you interested in buying general admission tickets for Laguna, I am buying some and reselling them for a profit.

 ....... Anyway, dont be a stranger and look me up in Austin for a beer, u Schwantz hater.

It was Dorna who assigned the original Texas 10-year race rights to Schwantz's company (3Four Texas) in the first place. He didn't just magically pull them out of thin air or somehow sneak out of Dorna HQ with them. You seem to think Schwantz was somehow getting away with something or putting something over on someone. He wasn't. He had the rights and was going to promote the race and be an ambassador for the sport even after he assigned the rights to COTA, had they been genuinely interested. They were only interested in finding a way around him.

ETA: I'll add that it was COTA who was being disingenuous re: the rights. Among other things they did, they continually advertised the MotoGP race when Schwantz owned the rights and COTA wasn't even interested in acquiring them from him. They used Schwantz's MotoGP rights to generate much-needed investment in the circuit and to promote PSL sales,  all while cutting him out of the mix. Is that even legal? They also touted his planned Motorcycle Riding School to investors and potential PSL purchasers and only stopped advertising the Moto GP race when he told them to stop dodging him or stop using the logo.

<span style="color:#333333;<span style="font-family:'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;Tried a little while ago to access the "VIP Preferred Pricing" at TicketMaster. Entered the passcode and the price wasn't discounted at all. [/size]

They "prefer" that VIPs pay the same price as everyone else.

And Jensen is a good dude. And not the dude in the too-tight leathers in the pit box full of Panigales.

Hey bro, I'm not so sure this was a "good article".  I'm not even sure its worthy to call this 'journalism'.  I think this guy has as much insight as your standard forum opinion.  Hardly an article/opinion piece with any substance actually.  I think Its a hack job by some gutless media wanabe trying to stay in the good graces of COTA more likely.  What facts did this "journalist" bring to the table here?  Nothing, just his opinion on the matter, and a poor one at that.  I don't expect many or any sport journalists to give us much scoop as they are usually puppets to the league and the league's preferred associates.  The media are usually used to dispense the messages that the executives scheme up for propaganda purposes because journalists and ignorant public are easily manipulated (and in some cases willingly or paid insider lobbying, tow the corporate line).

Its no wonder why some of these high powered execs get away with it over and over again, as not only do they have a sea of lawyers to frustrate the process using legal tricks, but with a few carefully placed media hacks can garner public support  to convince people they are in the right. Politics 101.

Not good as in a good piece of writing, but it makes the points (opinions) that we all do not want to hear.  I am, of course, on kevin's side.  I think he was a bit naive on the business end of this deal.  Yes, we do not know the facts, nobody truly does except for those involved. But, the only way to get yourself into the trouble he did is to not have the correct documentation.   The sad part of business, and life for that matter, is that everyone in the long run is looking out for themselves.  What he needed before all this started was the right people behind him looking at all those legal loopholes to be filled.

Either way, we all hope that this is resolved in schwantz's favor.

Yeah, I didn't know if he was in the photo or not. That's just a photo he tweeted earlier today.

Re: VIP pricing, the email they sent me that contained that password said it was to be used to obtain "preferred pricing". Otherwise, why use a password? It changed nothing at all.

ETA: Looking back at it again, I see you were being sarcastic. My bad. My meter needs calibrating.

Maybe, but his article on the matter was pitiful.

This is how a respectable journalist covers a story like this. (Presents the situation, includes any facts they may or may not have, says honestly its difficulty to make a judgement, then makes his exit.)

Personally, I reckon the sticker bombing campaign is the way to go. Wallpaper the place with them. Then head up to Haywards (?) hill on Monday and watch them spending days peeling the buggers off. While enjoying a beer in the sunshine.

3M Permanent Label Adhesive - accept no substitute!

You can get it off with a solvent like citrus oil or acetone, but that's as much of a .... to the finish as scraping would be.

Stick them to lots of shiny things. Expensive shiny things like electronics, important signage, laminates... :)

Yeah, it looks funny in the photo because you can't see the road. The road forks there and the sign sits between the two forks. Coming in or out you need to stay to the right of the sign.

Kevin Schwantz. Awesome rider in his day. Self-serving old fart desperately trying to remain relevant (and pick up a few bucks while doing so) in  a sport he is no longer part of. Not taking any sides in this particular case, seems to me like one of those cases where nobody has been on his best behavior.

Bawww, Stiefel, you're only saying that because you're a Stoner fan!

There Jumkie, saved you from making that post.

A sport he is no longer part of?

Talking out of your .... Schwantz is very involved in the sport - he is responsible for the Red Bull rookies in the Americas, among other things like training camps, consultancy, etc.

KS has given a heck of a lot back to the sport he excelled at, a lot more than a lot of other old riders.
