Just read about it. Terrible news. It sounds like he had a concussion and a minor neck injury, and he didn't even want to be airlifted to the hospital. I guess the x-rays and MRI will tell us more.

From an Australian website that has members (very) close to Josh

From what we know, Josh also suffered a collapsed lung in the crash, with American doctors opting to put him in an induced coma overnight in case of internal bleeding, but it is expected he will be fine and they'll awake him in the morning. It's expected he will remain in the hospital for a few days, however there is still a possibility that he will race at Mid-Ohio depending on when he gets out of the hospital.

How was he looking Jumkie?

I ask as I have seen Josh ride/race and the kid is bloody quick by comparison to many around him at the times I have been present. I still recall watching from Turn8 flagpoint at Eastern Creek and listening as he accelerated all the way through t8 out to the white line and into t9 before braking for the hairpin. No other rider on that day (including a few national a-graders) got even close.

Just asking for interest

I don't have all of the details, but anyone who wants to know why healthcare is so expensive in the United States---here is your answer ^^^^

Helicopter flights that you have to pay for whether you needed it or not. Overnight induced comas in case of internal bleeding. No telling how many tests and scans they've run. It's nice to know you can get good medical care in the United States, but this kind of cure is worse than the disease/injury.

I've had two motorcycle accidents and both of them cost nearly $10,000 each even though I suffered no serious injury. The second accident occurred less than a block from the hospital, but the ambulance company billed my insurance $1,500 for the ride. We have a very serious problem with defensive medicine in the United States. Medical professional rack up huge bills running tests and being cautious in order to avoid being sued. It's convenient that the steps necessary to avoid litigation also happen to put tons of money in their pockets.

Thats the other problem in this country all the stupid ... lawsuits. people get rewarded for being stupid. I once got slightly rear ended at a stop sign, it knocked me off the bike but i was ok and so was my bike so i said ".... it" and told the girl not to bother calling anyone and got back on and rode to work. Im sure I could have gone to court and wasted my time, her time and the states time and Money to get a few thousand bucks, but i don't regret it all. there are exceptions to some lawsuits, but most of them are ........

Im sure all these pro racers have top notch insurance, if not im sure suzuki can pick up the bill. waters is probably ok its seems like an over reaction by the track and hospital. Hopefully we can see him race at laguna. but were he crashed is no joke, between t8 and t9 at willow is some serious speed!
