Jerez test

It's close at the top, but good to see Rossi coming back fighting.

C'mon, was he going to do anything else!!!

And I'm quite sure Rossi expect Pedrosa to be his hardest competition.
Problem for Pedrosa is the rain though. That could cost him a championship.

Look out for some terrible small size imitations from Rossi the next couple of months.

I can definitely see your point Pete, and kind of getting back in the topic of the qualifying test… On my view, fourth is ok but it isn’t the most relevant issue, it was more like: there were 10 riders over a second off the pace (from 4th to 13th). Eduards made it just. But most that matter were over a second on “GP Cero” as they call it. Every previous year, the best have gone for it all at this test, even at rain (which helped Eduards last year)… but back with Gibernau and Rossi, come on! They were killing each other…

On topic - somebody mentioned somewhere on the forum that test is testing and that racing is a different story...

Stretching back off topic - please lets not question if hayden deserved the title again - he did.

To me fourth is a good place to be - even better a few years ago with 4 on the front row. He won the title last year by qualifying high up and finishing high up. Yesterday showed again he's qualified high up. So unless someone else can raise the bar hayden is doing just what he needs to to...

Finish high up again and win the title. Personally i think that rossi will win the title (ie raise the bar). You could say the test backs that up but who know's what's going to happen in the awesome marathon of a season. If he doesn't win the title i think somebody will have to have done something pretty damn special!

Roll on qatar, can't wait!

Anyone else notice how much down on speed the Honda was down the straight?

With Dani onboard- 287kmph

Yam with Rossi - 302 kmph.

Not often that happens.

Its possible the speed trap was near the breaking area and dani was off the throttle and rossi still on it. That happes at a few tracks.

Thats right but the official test is different because theres a rather nice prize for the fastest,a brand new beemer. so i think all the riders will ride 100% to try and win it, i think they only win a watch for poll so this test is pretty special.
rossi draws first blood, farmboy was 1.1 secs off the pace, dani is fast but will do a biaggi and run wide when the going get tough and hayden will cruise about in 4th or 5th all season while rossi will win by pi. thats my predition.

the point is not about how quick you can do one lap. it's about overtaking, fighting for places, starting the race, keeping the pace for the whole race, tyre management and all the endless other choices that affect the race that are in no way reflected from testing or qualifying or anything other than: the race!
People raise their game, make mistakes and so on.

Do you not think though that a bmw is a bit of a sht prize for a motorcycle event???????? Like any of them need one anyway.........and Rossi showed his usual respect by standing on it lol. However, it was good tv though and an appetite whetter.........Bring on 2007........

yes and im sure you will agree rossi is the master at all of these things you point out which is why he is a 7 time world champion and walked away with a slightly dented and scratched beemer.

Last year Rossi was not the master of race starting, nor was he the master of consistency, he made plenty if race mistakes. But other than that he had it covered, and i don't expect to see anywhere near as many mistakes this year.

Well its a sponsership thing isn't it. BMW pay for the promotion they get from giving the riders their cars. The pace cars are also BMW's, most of the riders could to buy one of those anyway, but its not the point.

MotoGP.com might not be very happy with me for re-publishing their content, but screw it, not everyone can afford their subscriptions (those who can and are just cheap bstards - this isn't for you):

Enjoy, if I can get organised I'll try and put some of their better videos up throughout the year for others to enjoy. ciao!

I'm not sure about that, I'll try find the race by race record for last year. If you discount the DNF's caused by machinery failure he was consistently 1st-4th.

Not helped by crashing at Assen and breaking his wrist.

yeah go for it phleg.
i think the times he crashed were because he had to push harder because the bike was under par, i would be interested to see these facts mate if you get the time to compile them.

Man did i miss motogp over the winter. i am glad its back. its good to see rossi going fast, but very dissapointed with the rest. I thought hayden, melandri, capirosi etc will be up there fighting. yeah i am a rossi fan but i dont want the motogp to be a bore fest this year. i think its to early to say that hayden is out, maybe during the summer break when things are more settled and stuff. I wonder how honda will treat hayden if pedrosa does a lot better than him this season or half way through the season.

WOOOHOOO!....i know i'm a day late, but just came in to work....i watched all the live timeing along with the LIVE feed at the test....

i'm so excited for the season to statrt, that my pants are tight!
<

Whenever i looked at live timing over the weekend
most of the top 16 were encompassed by just a second so i think it's
pretty unlikely to be a bore fest.
