Is Lorenzo a worthy champion?

Lorenzo definitely has the luck of a champion, bucket load full of luck.

But he does not have the speed or talent of a real champion.

They say that lightning do not strike twice in the same place. Most elderly people agree with this saying, I too tend to agree with this saying.

However, after Lorenzo won the title again in 2012 due to pure luck, I am not too sure about this saying "Lightning do not strike twice in the same place".... In the case of Lorenzo, lightning certainly strikes twice in the same place, once in 2010 and the second time in 2012....

I am wondering if there will be a third time....

The words are too strong, therein lies a very significant inference that he has no skill at all. It must be the bike? Shades of 2007 all over again? How did Ben go?

pffffffffffffft ! :wallbash:

My analytical ability is fine as it worked you out strait away.

If your analytical ability is fine, you would have agreed that Lorenzo is not a worthy champion.

I am sorry mate,...I think you need some help in analytical ability. I am all here to offer my guidance and help sincerely.....

You see, the thing about Lorenzo's title is that he did not face real competition, either his main competitors are injured or has not so capable bike.

For example, last 8 races of 2012, Pedrosa absolutely destroyed him nearly every race, Lorenzo does not have any answer to that at all.

Except the first 8 races. its a whole season

I never buy a half watermelon for example. Disgusting people touch the red bit you eat with their fingers. You have to get the whole thing.

Sometimes they sugar up and the 2nd half tastes sweeter than the first but it isn't. Same calories, same points. You just know your not getting Valentino Cantaloupe.

Look, its not relevant to compare the first 8 races, because the Yamaha M1 was well sorted while Hondas (particularly Pedrosa's bike) are still chasing some setup issues.

So Lorenzo beating Pedrosa in the first half of the season is not a fair fight.

The fair fight is in the last 8 races of 2012 -

Well sorted Yamaha M1 vs well sorted Honda RCV

Both bike equally as fast over a lap / race distance.

The only determining factor in the battle is the talent and speed of the rider,.... and Pedrosa proved that he has better talent and speed than Lorenzo when all things are equal.

the last 8 races had lorenzo looking down the barrel of a 2nd world championship. all he had to do was stay on, which when riding at mental speeds, can be difficult to do. why risk chucking it away like stoner did and lose a WC over a little mishap.

its all in the mathematics mate.

a wc doesnt just come from closing ur eyes and twisting the throttle (thats the one on the right hand bar if u didnt know). it also takes luck and a bit of strategy.

All Pedro ever proved was that all the Kings horses and all the Kings men couldn't put Humpty back together again

His would have to be the greatest investment in time and money and the greatest forbearance EVER shown by HRC to be a rider without a premier class championship.

It isn't good luck to Jorge that Pedro is the championship bridesmaid in perpetuity.

He's been the bridesmaid for Hayden Rossi, Stoner Rossi, Lorenzo Stoner Lorenzo and so on and so forth.

The luckiest rider in the championship is without a doubt Pedro for holding what is arguably the number 1 seat in all motorcycle racing EVER and not bringing home the bacon.

Yes.

And jorge will be remembered as an unquestionably great rider. And he is imo by far the most likely of the current riders, including marquez, to win multiple further championships; valentino might have one more championship left in him to match ago under similar circumstances, but not 3 or 4 which I wouldn't exclude as a possibility for jorge.

DUDES!!!!!

Fair play but let the little minnow off the hook! He actually thinks its a debate!

If you are talking about the championship deciding race, fair enough not to take any risks,...but 8 races to go, no way. Lorenzo with his monstrous ego, definitely wants to prove he is a worthy champion by beating Pedrosa fair and square, he has the determination, but not the speed and talent to do it.

I put this up earlier but it seems to have gone so here it is again,
Is Lorenzo a worthy champion?

this is a ....... stupid question because he won the title full stop and cuckoo you are a massive ...... because you think you know what it takes to win a world title.

I knew i could count on a fellow Pslider to have the answer early in the conversation to keep me from having to go past page one.

Wrong. Pedrosa is the unluckiest rider on the grid. Whenever he is having momentum in the championship, bad luck happens.

Reason he is still holding the top ride is because his employer recognized his talent, knowing that only bad luck prevented him from beating Lorenzo in 2010 and 2012.

Lorenzo is the luckiest rider on the grid.

I think I'm starting to get the hang of this "luck" thing....

My favorite rider wins = skill

My favorite rider loses = bad luck

A rider I hate wins = good luck

Stop me if I've missed anything...

Where do I begin? The good news is Carmelo Clause and Co. are not fans of "luck", they prefer to be a bit more hands on ensuring "luck" has nothing to do with it. They hate it when 'luck' intervenes as it did the times VR didn't win a title starting with his premier class tenure. VR continues to be the propped up "hero" that satisfies the masses by design. Starting with the non-factory factory, to the "good stuff tires", to the Saturday Night Specials (something like making everybody play with bowling shoes while VR was allowed cleats on the pitch) to the threats of forcing Bridgestone tire company to supply him under the threat that they would be unceremoniously eliminated from GP, to the spec tire whose "spec" suddenly changed coinciding with an exact turn of fortunes between lead riders of Ducati and Yamaha, to the sudden relaxing of the testing rules coincidently coinciding with the disastrous performance at Ducati, with the epic bail out back to factory Yamaha (the reining title package, God know there wasn't any room at him at HRC, which thanks to the sudden disappearance of the Rookie Rule made way for the heir apparent).

Confirmation is a mothafucker, eh? Especially when bias is overwhelmingly confirmed at every possible major crossroad that has had a key impact on the series going decidedly in one direction, all toward one man.

Anyway, Cockoo is obviously a Pedros fan, so ....'em, I'm gonna hijack this thread. (Well, that is if our new fun killer over zealot covert mod doesn't get to it first). :)

Lorenzo did what he had to in the latter races, he'll show his talent again this season.

Im sure he's crying at home over the so called misfortune of his competitors with his tears are being collected in a big jug:

Has he? Lorenzo consistently beat pedro in 2011 when the honda was by far the most superior bike.
