Interesting quote from Ducati boss

well jumkie to answer your ?. don't get me wrong but i rate both riders highly. i just think haslam will be a sbk guy for the rest of his carreer. from what i've seen & read of both to me cal can conjure up that extra bit of speed & has the mental fortitude needed to have some success in gp. last season he was always consistently fast right outa the box but up till silverstone this season he was never able to string together any fast laps over race distance, he was always good for that 1 fast 1 for pole then struggle in the race, unlike what he was able to do in ss last season. i think he's just needed more time to come to grips with the bike, more than i thought to be honest, but i think now he's found that consistancy... i guess we'll see at the nurburgring. he also seems to me to have more fire than leon. i think that he'll do well in gp when he gets up to speed. he'll do a far better job methinks than JT or any previous brit for some time.

haslam on the other hand has been consistent at least in the 1st part of the season but like last year he fades toward the end. i know he's a fighter cause i defo remeber him with haga & spies at assen last season. i just don't think he has that last bit that u need to thrive in gp. if he does go to gp full time, i do remeber his run in the 500s, he'll have a jt type time of it. just my humble opinion on what i can remember of past & whats taken place recently. sometimes u just get a certain perspective on a racer... thers just somethin about that guy...

Thanx guys for ur perspective. I suppose u couldnt go wrong with either (including Rea, not so sure about Cramier). I pretty much agree with ur observations. I'd add that Cal being on Yamaha is in great position being that GP Yamaha is in need of a rider. ( and Yamaha in particular has enuf sense to give superbikers a chance unlike others).

Wouldnt it be something if Biaggi was given chance to return to GP with Aprillia in 2012?

I would love to see that.Apillia wins the SBK title then comes over to its respective class in MGP and wins that too. They already have the start they needed with the V4 layout generally accepted as the way to go with the larger capacities...................................or it may just be pipe dreamin` with `special herbal tobacco`.

Why not so much for Camier? He's doing really well this year and did a pretty decent job of cleaning up in BSB last year... I think he's got a lot going for him, except his size that is. I admit i'm biased though as he's one of my favorite up and coming brits. For me its a shame Sykes isn't making any progress for the moment, because i like him th best. Rea is real mystery to me, he hasn't seemed to get any better since getting on the world stage and has little consistency to harness his speed

I dont know enuf about Cramier to make assessment, thats why im unsure. But if BSB is any indication, well Kiro & Sykes...

Jums...Drill, not sure about Biaggi making the return to MotoGP, seems like I read on Crash a couple of weeks ago he has no desire to come back to MotoGP.....we will have to wait and see if he keeps his word I suppose.

Camier has been on better form of late, maybe it has taken him more time to gel with the Aprilla rocketship. In order for Camier to rate higher I suspect he will need to finish with Biaggi for the remaining rounds this season. But even if he doesn't, it would seem to me he's doing pretty good considering the Aprilla isn't all that easy to ride in it's second generation form?

Don't worry Camier is good. He can hold his own with the other brits we are mentioning, if you go really old school he held his own against Casey Stoner! I would say he needs more time to be sure if he's gonna be a big shot, but i rate him

Biaggi will obviously be back next year to defend his title (given he wins it this year). I suspect if he fails to defend it, he may retire the following season.

It's a shame Camier didn't get to ride the Yamaha this year. He dominated BSB last year when riding the Yam. However, it seems certain he will stay with Aprilia for another year.

Aprilia & Max Biaggi: Extended Contract

Sam Sims

08/04/2010

The Italian sports newspaper "La Gazzetta dello Sport" is reporting that World Superbike rider Max Biaggi has extended his contract with Aprilia for two more years.

The paper said he signed for 2011 and 2012 based on 1 million Euro per season. This will most likely make Biaggi the highest paid rider in the World SBK series on the Aprilia Alitalia.

Aprilia was new to World Superbike last year, but with much hard work Biaggi and the Noale company placed the RSV4 fourth overall in the 2009 WSBK standings. As for this year, the Italian is possibly en route to the WSBK championship, and currently leads Suzuki Alstare rider Leon Haslam by 60 points.

Biaggi's dominance this year is mostly due to his doubles at Portimao, Monza, Miller Motorsports Park and Misano. Besides the doubles, the 39-year-old was also won one race at Brno, and was on the podium four additional times. And DNFs so far this year are non-existent.

Biaggi has quite a history with Aprilia. He spent five years on them while competing in the MotoGP 250 Class, winning back-to-back titles (1994-1996). He also took a 250 title in 1997 on a Honda. To date, Biaggi has 42 Grand Prix wins, and 10 wins in World Superbike.

Also, Aprilia currently has a contract with Alitalia, which makes for an all-Italian team. But the Alitalia contract with Aprilia runs out in 2012.

The World Superbike Championship is on break now, but returns Sept. 3-5 for Nurburgring in Germany, round 11 of 13.

Cal is arrogant, at times inconsistent and a bit of a ..... But, he is also probably the fastest Brit on two wheels at the moment, and is probably the best bet for motogp.
