Although IMS and Dorna have a contract to run a gp in indy for 2013 & 2014,

Word in the paddock is that 2014 will be mutually canceled.

This year is now or never to attend a gp in indy.

Read that the other day. After the race, IMS has like a one week window to go forward or cancel the contract for 2014. It didnt sound good. The article i read made it sound like it was IMS more than Dorna that was walking away. Simply   not making money, or not enough money to justify the event. I have been to every race and already have reservations for this year. Without Indy, i probably wont be seeing GP live for a while. Laguna  and Austin are just in the wrong time of year for me.

Best organized motor sporting event I've ever been to.

Total .... track, .... venue, great organization, world class traffic/people management, most hospitable staff I've ever experienced. That being said, it's time to move on. This is not a loss for the GP calendar but the folks who ran the Indy event deserve credit for the class they demonstrated at every opportunity. It's just not the right place for GP and I'm glad it's moving on.

Couldnt agree more, except for the part where you are glad its moving on. Maybe if they moved it south to Barber would i be glad, but i hate seeing the country lose an event of that magnitude. I have said the same thing numerous times. The city of Indy and IMS knows how to put on an event. Prices are fair, traffic is down to an art, nightlife is outstanding, and even the cops are nice.

The cops are wonderful. They are part of the hospitability of the event. It's just a good group that they have there and the entire city knows how to host an event. It's very obviuosly a group effort and all of the moving parts seem to work together. Austin on the other hand is the exact opposite.

Wow wonderful cops?

It's a shame I'm not going to get the chance to experience this place with motogp. (even though I don't like the track that much)

If it is the opposite to Austin ie the way punters (to put it into perspective) were treated and the rules imposed.

It is a sad day indeed.

Fcuk it 2 out of 3 ain't bad as some fat bloke once said ;)

Absolutely!!!

I concur with both you and Pov's sentiments.  It was by far the best overall experience I've had at race.  Its a shame to lose a round in the "East" as well.

No worries.

I land on the Tuesday eve at JFK, booked an hotel for the Tues night.

Hook up with you Wednesday afternoon.

My flight home is on the following Weds, so if you are going out of town will book the hotel for Mon and Tues nights too.

No chance staying for Indy, as I feared I have already made commitments here between the races.

And flying back is not an option either :(

Edit! Thought this was the Guna thread!

First part relates to guna.

Shame your not going to be at Guna mate :(

Who all will be in Indy? I'm doing a feature on a company in the paddock and most likely will be around. Anyone doing a meet up or anything? I have several stories starring Jumkie, Arrabi, and Willski if that sweetens the pot.
