So I made it to the race after all. I ran a weekend long bmx camp until early sunday afternoon. Luckily it was in northern Indiana however those snoody michiana people run on Chicago time as they call it. So that area of the state is a hour behind Indy even though they are in the same time zone. They really do take a lot of .... for that. But anyway I now have a two hour drive to indy to catch a race the starts in just over two hours. Wait add that hour because of them snooty think they are Chicagoans hoosier .......s. So I get on 65 south and put the foot to the floor. My mentality is .... it I either make it in time or good to jail trying. Mind you the police are not going to be to happy when they pull over the 100+ mph clam bake mobile, or maybe they will be. On a side note, how many of you have broken up sticky green with a pair of scissors while driving with your knee for an hour and thirty minutes straight at over a 100 mph? If you or your children happen to be commuting at that time down I-65 I do apologize. But it was worth it as when I pulled in it was obvious they weren't running yet as I didn't hear them. So know the race is going to start at any moment, I really dont know, and I still need to find a ticket.
I have a plan in place to get a ticket. Been thinking about it all weekend, and when Ben got on pole in knew I had to try. So I sharpened up my knife and loaded up the pistol. No, no just kidding. Okay so what Indy does to the homeowners of houses near IMS is they give the locals free tickets to every event that they have. Kind of a sorry for the noise thing plus there is plenty of room. The hurricane gp there was a old couple next to us who came for a little while just to eat lunch, and then they left. So my idea was to hang out by one of the main gates until I saw a little blue haired couple who looked like they wanted nothing to do with motorcycles walk out, and then I would follow them away from the gate and politely ask them for their ticket. Needless to say this plan worked within 5 minutes, and I was in.
One problem, although not that severe being I was in and the race had not started yet. I broke my cellphone last weekend and lost all my numbers. So I had no way to get a hold of jumkie. I thought about sending a FB message to Roger to tell him to have Jums call me. That seems to be his specialty, transatlantic help. When americans cant get .... together, give chopper a buzz. You should really start your own company. But I didn't. I figure I know where they are, I will try to flag them down which is exactly how we met last year same place in everything. only with the aid of cell phones. Otherwise I will attempt to get up there. Ain't no shame in my game. I see them in there nice air conditioned suite, but no way can get there attention. Even though I am the only one in the bleachers bellow the shade line from the upper deck. So now the race is going to start and I do not want to watch it from where I am. So know I have the choice of trying to sneak up to the paddock area or find a good seat. Like a true motogp fan (I am sure some of you love that) I found a good place to sit instead, the stands in the last corner. I can still see those powerslide ......., drinking it up eating food in the shade and a/c. While I bake and get baked in the blazing heat. I tried to find them after the race but was unable to do that either. I knew they were in the pit area I just had to sneak in there, but I had to far to walk-run and missed the cattle style entry to get in. It was to clear for me to run past the security. So I didn't get to see any psliders but I didn't miss the race, so all in all not to bad.
