So it is official, Dani Pedrosa's time at HRC is finally over after this year, which most likely means he is set to retire at the end of the year as well as I think he knows that his time is up (even if he goes somewhere else, his challenge for race victories is certainly over) . He has always been my favorite rider since I started watching in 2007 and I have followed and supported him diligently, but its for sure overdue at this point as he has clearly struggled to adapt to changes (specifically Michelin tires) over the past couple years and Honda has to move past him and find someone who is going to consistently push for podiums week in and week out.

Even though he never was able to win that elusive championship, and had numerous years at the end where he was only at the front when the stars aligned 4-5 races a year, it was still awesome seeing him put together such a good season in 2012 when he won seven races and nearly beat Jorge. You may have never been the best rider on the grid, Dani, but for sure remembered as a rider who never gave up through the numerous, numerous injuries you have pushed through throughout your entire GP career, even as recent as Texas this year. I know most of you reading this have always looked at Pedrosa as essentially a usually irrelevant number 2 rider ever since Marc Marquez arrived, (and maybe even earlier) but I can honestly say that Dani was an awesome role model to me growing up through High school and college as he taught me to never, ever give up and to always put your best foot forward no matter how tough of a time you may be having of it, no matter how badly the odds may be stacked against you, and no matter how much more successful others around you may seem to be, as well as learning to recognize, overcome and change certain traits about yourself to become an overall better person (in reference to poor sportsmanship against Hayden in 2006 and Simoncelli after France 2011) . Thanks again for everything Dani, and have a great, well deserved retirement! :)

Also, just don't forget to let everyone know that you do in fact have the longest streak of consecutive winning seasons in MotoGP at 12 seasons in a row - do me a favor and make it 13 by the end of the year ;) Farewell Little Samurai.

It would be interesting to see Jorge go to Honda, but most likely the Petronas Yamaha thing is a done deal, and if somehow he gets out of that, he would likely be staying at Ducati is my guess. It would be possible that Crutchlow could take his seat next year if he could just learn to crash less (although lets face it thats never going to happen) and learn he's not Marc Marquez and should take less risks, I feel he would actually be an ideal number 2 rider to Marquez. It is likely to be Franco Morbidelli at this point. But, for the first time since 2013, there is an open seat at Repsol Honda, let the silly season begin!

As of today, Dani is the only rider who won at least one race every single year of his MotoGP career, and of his whole career if we exclude his rookie year (2001). That's an incredible accomplishment.

He isn't a showman, he did not win a premier class title (many "if..." on that one, but that's another topic) but he had a fantastic career. Got his body completely destroyed but was able to stand up from every single injury.

I wish him all the luck in the world for whatever he'll do next.

Fair to say that IMHO he'll race another couple years tho.

It is possible he will end up on a satellite Yamaha or KTM, but his push for race victories will certainly be over. Simply put, I have a feeling his next contract will certainly be his last.

He's not super young and had it hard injuries wise, but I think he's eager to try racing on another bike.

Not for long, couple years like I said, but I think he'd like that.

Wherever Dani ends up, even if he retires, I hope he is happy.
Like Casey Ryback, he's one of the good guys.

I would suspect that there are options up and down the paddock for Pedrosa, his experience would be a great for KTM, and why not the 2nd ride at Ducati?

Jorge struggled on the Ducati, why would he be any better on a Honda?

The Ducati is too physical for Pedro IMHO...

as per your point on Jorge and Honda I fully agree.

Jorge’s body is begging to be back on a Yamaha. You know he’s missing it a lot.
Marquez and J.Lo have polar opposite riding styles. And HRC isn’t going to build a Jorgecycle that Marquez cannot thrash around anymore.

What I can't get is, considering how much the Yamaha is struggling right now, how would Jorge be so eager to jump on one?

The 2015/16 Yamaha was a very different thing from today's one. Vinales would probably pay $100mln to be able to go back to 2016 to refuse signing his Yamaha contract....

I may be annoyingly repetitive but I think Jorge should stay on the Duc. Which he won't do :D

“Struggling “ is a relative word.
It’s a bike that has been on the podium 4 times this year. J.Lo couldn’t buy a podium on the Duc until Mugello.

And Vinales reupped his contract before anyone else, so that point is invalid.

Struggling in terms of setting it up, finding comfortable solutions, being feeling smooth on the bike, being able to WIN and so on...at least according to the words spoken by the people who ride it :D

As per Vinales re-signing super fastly yeah, that made no sense, but have you heard/read all the kind words he had for the team lately? I don't think he's happy, but I could be very wrong :D

I agree with you. The bike hasn't demonstrated race winning pace thus far this year, and has gained podiums by attrition.

either that, or Rossi and Vinales are two whining ....... that blame everything on the bike :D but that's totally not poss

OH WAIT..........................

Good riddance.

Pedrosa has been occupying this seat for far too long and had little to show for it at the end of the day. Couple of close years in the title battle, not much else. The Pedrocycle debacle was pathetic and cost Nicky Hayden any real chance of defending his title due to the midget mobile.

Sucks about all of his injuries but this is the right call. He has been getting progressively worse in spite of last season's Valencia win which came down to the wire.

Will be interesting to see who gets that seat as the options are slim, and god forbid Cuntslow gets it.

I have been replying to you in normal mode so far since you seem to actually have a brain, but I can just as easily switch on the mouthbreather filter if you’re not actually interested in talking about why J.Lo is a better fit on the Yamaha than on the Honda.
