Holy ...., that is mega impressive, thanks for that.

Did a lot of work lightening the car too. Got it down to 1000kg. Not just a straight line car either. He races it in the time attack so if does the twistys too.

Kitty K The and Speculator are in stage 3 of power slide membership.

Stage 1- have some decent posts and seem generally enthused

Stage 1.5- geonerd likes your posts

Stage 2- complains that some people are mean and should be nicer

Stage 3-states that many people have a bad attitude and demands that people be nicer or else they will leave

Stage 4- http://powerslide.net/forum/index.php?/topic/16104-the-powerslide-graveyard/#entry367721

Nah, your reading is as faulty as your human relations. I've never threatened to leave - you're stuck with me.

No. My car was built by prodrive, it was a limited run of 320 cars to commemorate Richard Burns. They put over 7k£ worth of extras than a normal sti. then i have done this.

Thought you said it wasn't an Impreza? STi/WRX - all the same mate, you're just kidding yourself with semantics.

I own and have owned some .... cars in my time, Audi, Citroen, Subaru, but never a beemer... when you set yourself a budget of $2000/1000 squid for a car, you are spoiled for choice, but anything from Munich in that price range is complete dross. A 2CV, though - that could represent some serious motoring.

And there you show you have no clue what you're talking about. STi and WRX are very different in many ways. Mine is quite different again. But hey, you think what you like mate.

What do you drive?

A truck, 2000 GMC sierra, I would rather have another car, but I need a tow vehicle for the toys. It's either spend the money on a very nice car or the toys(fishing boat, kayak, and bike). I wouldn't mind putting together a nice C3 vette or one of those factory five cobra replicas, but the boat and chasing fish is my current money trap.

I don't really care what anyone drives, just commenting on how different cars are perceived in different areas. If money was not a problem I'd have a stable filled Porsche cars. I drove one of the new 1 series BMWs with the turbo and it was a blast, but not something I would drop that kind of coin on.

Both are Subaru Impreza - yeah, I have no idea. You are nit-picking.

It is 'quite different' in that it isn't a Subaru Impreza? What is it, a 2CV with a body kit?

.... me, you have no sense of humor whatsoever...

Considering this thread has turned into a Subaru love fest (and I'm surprised this hasn't happened before), here is a photo of me putting in a horrible performance at Eastern Creek the other day. If everyone is interested, maybe we should start a Subaru appreciation thread in the lounge where you can all discuss how the Impreza is one of the great (est?) machines to disturb the peace in a street near you.

I believe you can get Imprezas which are not even turbocharged.

After V8s and several turbo cars,  in my old age I have gone to a lightweight non-turbo Subaru (of sorts) myself, a Toyota 86. Bags of fun.

Ah cool, Dad just bought an 86 too. Such a neat car, everyone who bags them for being underpowered doesn't have a clue how good they are. There's a few supercharged ones getting around now - interesting.

Yeah, I've got a non-turbo Legacy.

I'm looking forward to the testing, great season so far and the post season testing has lots to offer with the new Honda and Yam bikes. Yam is supposedly sending engineers to the test to support Forward. There hasn't been to much said about the new Yamaha bikes but, from what I've been reading they're actually also well sorted and supposed to be ready for the test.

They have not even turned a wheel, they are still building them at the test, they may not even be ready today, like to know where you read they were sorted and ready to test, can you give us a link to it?

Ok the difference between the WRX and STi off the top of my head. I'm talking more newage than classic as it gets very confusing in earlier cars.

Engine is very different in a lot of way. The wrx uses a odb (open deck) and the sti is scdb (semi closed deck). The pistons rods and i think the crank thrust bearing set up are different.

The cylinder heads are very different, The sti has not only bigger valves but also variable valve timing. The turbo is different too. The wrx using a TD04 and the sti using an IHI set up. The down pipe and up pipe are different as the wrx has 3 cats and the sti only 1. Cold air feed and intercooler are smaller on the wrx.

The wrx has a 5 speed gearbox where the sti has a 6 speed with driver controlled centre diff. The Sti also has a limited slip rear diff.

The sti post 05 is wide track where the wrx isn't. The hubs are different, the wrx is 100 pcd and the sti 114pcd. Wheels are different as is the suspension. The sti uses a Brembo brake set up unlike the wrx which uses the much smaller subaru brake system.

Then there is the body, not only does the sti have things like side skirts ect, it also has an ally bonnet where the wrx has steel, reinforced boot lid ect. I believe the shell is also considerably stiffened compared to the wrx. There are many more differences but you get the idea. Its like saying a Ford ST is the same as an RS.

So to say "STi/WRX - all the same mate, you're just kidding yourself with semantics" . makes you look like a fanny

RIght Rog, they are different.  But if my mom walked by an STi and a WRX, would she say they are the same car??  Yes she would.

To the layman, they are the same car.  I think that is what Kiddy is sort of saying.

I've had a couple Imprezas.  A 97 and 02 Outback Sport.  I'm currently driving the more refined Saab 92x.  A Subaru with Saab badges.

Yea, Aspar was late to commit to the Honda, so HRC were thrashing to put together another bike for this weeks test.  It appears that Redding has lapped his proddy today.

Not driven one yet but they look cool. There is some sort of agreement in the uk, not sure about other countrys. Subaru can only sell 1 BRZ to every 40 Toyota GT86's. There is about 6k in price difference (subaru dearer) i believe for basically the same car with different badges.

check out this bad boy.

Until she went for a spin round the block in them. Then she would know the difference lol She would probably prefer the WRX as its a lot softer ride.
