Very cool event they ran with Marc and Dani riding vintage 500cc 2-stroke bikes...double world champion Fernando Alonso rode the RC213V in addition to the 1991 Marlboro McLaren Honda MP4/6. Would have loved to have seen this event.

Any quotes from the particapants?

Nvm

Just saw the link

I was hoping to hear what their thoughts were after riding the NSR. I'm really surprised this is the first time Pedro rode one

Me too. I thought he would have some kind of "private trackday" motorcycle with similar engineering specs in his garage at home that he would take out for track days once every blue moon. Just for ..... and giggles with his mates.

So where the hell was Nicky Hayden?

Lamenting the underpowered CBR1000RR.

Nakamoto: "Too many journalists at Motegi. Bad PR if he questions why we have CBR that hasn't been updated in years in front of them. Tell Nicky-san we have PR opportunity in Arctic Circle he must attend if he wants fast bike in future."

Sorry, I know this is a bikes forum but that Marlboro Mclaren is a thing of beauty.
The bikes are beauties too but the F1 cars of old are so much better than modern ones.

Agreed...only thing that bugs me is they never run the cars in their demos at the race ride height. The cars look magnificent when they are millimeters off the ground.

Fun FYI, that car is the 1991 Japanese Grand Prix race winner that Gerhard Berger drove to victory at Suzuka.

The MP4/6 was the last 12 cylinder F1 car to win a world championship, and the first since Jody Scheckter in the Ferrari 312T4 in 1979.

Absolutely. The sparks at every bump seemed to add something to the sight and atmosphere.
Was that not the race Senna basically gave to Berger as a sort of "thanks for your support"??? An even more historic car as Senna didn't give victories away very often.

Ron Dennis ordered Senna to let Berger through. Senna waited till the very last corner as a way to let everyone know Berger wasn't getting the lead by way of his own skill.

Fair enough. Was just a kid back then so couldn't remember exactly what happened but I do remember Senna letting berger through. Should of known it wasn't really his idea.
Only fair I suppose after Berger waved him through earlier in race.

Heh, Nicky would've praised the Honda and blamed himself. The lad never makes excuses.
