I thought this was interesting, looks like he's decided that Motogp really isn't for him.
Would have been interesting to see how he did though.

First reading the artical I thought what a fool BUT then thinking about it and looking at how Gresini Honda are performing, I don't blame him. 2004 with D'Antin Ducati not a good year for him or Xaus.

Its tough to call. I mean yeah, the Gresini ride isn't the best but its a great opportunity. All he would need to do is beat Melandri, which shouldn't be hard considering he said he's not gonna try to fight for positions. And if I recall, Neil said the GP bike was "easy". He is 33 already. So he doesn't have too much time left, and I don't see Ducati replacing their riders in WSBK to soon. I see he is wanting to ride for Honda, so I guess he's hoping if Toesland goes to MotoGP, he will get his ride. (But it just might be offered to Colin, I would). I don't know, but all things considered, I think he should have taken the ride. I think it would have shown that he is willing to put himself out there and risk for opportunity.

I really think that if Hodgeson wants to be a racer, then he has to get his ... back on a race bike soon! There are plenty of guys racing and winning week in week out who would do anything for a chance like this.

Let him go back to BSB and give the bike to Rea, we need new fast hungry riders. Not Hodgeson.

Pete

The way things are going the best he will be able to hope for is a half decent BSB ride, maybe even Walkers seat after hes fallen off of it a few more times.

Agree Tom, and he wouldnt have it his own way there!

Hodgson sucks. I think he really wants back in AMA to try and win the Superbike title so he's got the WSBK, BSB and AMA crowns under his belt. That was his aim when he went in 05, I'd say he has unfinished business in the AMA. IMO he would only take a BSB ride if the AMA .... doesn't pan out.

He can stay testing tyres for all I care, haven't missed him one bit.

Well that may be true, but unless he gets on a Suzuki (very unlikely) then he won't win crap. You may have noticed that Suzuki takes 1,2,3 and sometimes 4 alot.

BTW, why do you think Niel sucks?

Yep he needs to get on a Suzuki, I'm guessing he just wants to work his way back into the field, he was trying to get on the Yamaha Superstock this year so he could work his way back to Superbike, they gave it to Boz instead, ha ha. The Suzuki's are strong, but the have arguably the 2 best riders in the championship, T.Hayden has a Suzuki and can't seem to do jack just yet.

If Spies and Mladin call it quits Neil has a shot at the title. It may even the field out a little, at least until someone figures out the Suzuki.

I just never liked the guy as a racer, good bloke, but I never felt he was a threat to anyone in any championship. Nothing to get excited about, no expectations of him. He just ......' dull.

Hardly scientific, but valid nonetheless. Haha.

He must be in talks with someone from Honda because the bike he will be riding at Laguna is the American Honda lab bike that Josh Hayes has been testing. Perhaps one or both of the factory Honda riders are on their way out after this season.

Thats what I figured, is Miguel contracted for next year?

i reckon that's just MCN making .... up. As if HRC didn't have a hand in who got the nod to ride the thing.
Hodgson sure turns down a lot of rides for a bloke who doesn't have a job...

1. wouldn't be the first time, mcn has turned into tabloid .....,the crap they were making up about gibbers, and vale, was just the motorcycle version of the sun imo.

2.my thoughts exactly, they say your only as good as your last race, but if no one can remember your last race then there aint a lot of hope for you.

Spot on Rog, Hodgeson's value as a racer must be dropping like a stone with every month. I dont see how someone who hasn't ridden this seson can be holding out for a top ride unless they are seriously deluded, or the press are making the whole thing up.

Whatever the truth is, the guy needs to get back on a bike and do something or he's gonna slip off into obscurity. I'm not a fan (you may have noticed) but surely he could get a ride somewhere and prove that he's not finished.

Hes obviously snubbed this amazing ride because hes arrogant, angry with the past and thinks hes too good to be a wildcard.

even his manager roger burnett thinks it wasnt a good move to turn down the Gresisni ride.

Thats support for you

Hodgson talking about motogp. Knobson

"Some people think it was quite a hard decision for me to make but it wasn't. Because I've done MotoGP, I've ticked all the boxes I wanted to tick."

What exactly were those boxes?

1. Get ... handed to me
2. End up unemployed
3. Be a total ....

.... he's a knob
