Barry please stop mate you are killing me! Why don't you book a flight tae Scotland to see the home of your ancestors, and we can all meet up for a few drams an a bit o music, you can bring that fretless bass ukulele I want you to build me with you.

Hey I could even take you to a kilt maker, and get you a kilt in the McSheene tartan.

Remember Barry, if it's not Scottish, it's crap, but hey, you ken that!

Thats a bit rich fae a banjo player, have you ever played an instrument with men's strings?

Does a baby grand count?

Stay at ducati. He has plenty of championships. Getting the duc to be a competitive bike that others can win on will be a greater achievement at this stage of his career imo.

Spencer and Stoner are both guilty of the same crime. Exhibiting vulnerability. It's the Conan Syndrome. In the minds of manly, macho types who are terrified of any feelings much beyond the range of rage or laughter at the expense of those they (or their local football team) have vanquished - who believe it's a greater sign of virility to poison themselves with excessive amounts of booze than to ever god-forbid express feelings of fear or sadness - expressing vulnerability is the ultimate betrayal of the myth of the hard-drinking, bar-fighting, neanderthal macho man. If these guys had been around in the '20s and '30s they'd have branded Gandhi as a pansy in a skirt.

Another yardstick (phallic reference unintended) around here is who has the biggest post.... count.

Its my guess Basspete just likes a bit o blether rather than being a blootert bletherskite. He's a musician, so I bet he gets all emotional, sheds wee a tear or two when the music strikes his heart but dont want to be seen as a wee greetin bugger.

Playin bass takes millions of hours practice, same as Spencer put in to ride a bike like an artist. They start as kids, fall countless times and learn to pick themselves up again and again year after year until for just a lucky few out of millions that try they reach the pinnacle of motogp and 'the one' becomes a world champion. Its the most massive achievement. I rate them up there with the Little Wings of the music world, they have the capacity to make me a little emotional.

No but from my experience (limited I know) no one remembers anyone for race wins (barring ones with many antics and excitement) just WC,s.

No doubt championships are the real currency.

I don't think even a single motogp win is negligible though; ask troy bayliss, kevin magee or simon crafar, and lists of greatest number of premier class wins which usually include them abound and are still fairly short, while any relating to places other than first in the championship are elusive.

Or ask Colin Edwards what a win is worth.
