Thats why Nakamoto wanted the Rookie rule dropped is it? So they could get Rossi?
<

No i think its more to do with those pesky HRC bigwigs and millions of dollars worth of Repsol investment
<

Say Ezy had a spine and Honda failed to get the rule dropped, who would they go for? They aren't going to win a championship with Pedrosa are they?

There's more chance of that than with Rossi.

Please explain, there is no evidence to suggest he can beat Rossi when Rossi is on a decent bike. Christ, even when the formula was based on Dani himself he couldn't win a championship... Rossi is a better rider.

Are you yanking my crank?

Rossi just needs to swallow his pride, get back on a Jap bike and give another couple of years of doing what he does best.

Rossi has always been the one to dish out the mental toughness in order to win the race, title, battle under adversity. If he leaves Ducati now, he is leaving at the time where he is going to be able to effect the most change giving way to stability and prosperity on the Ducati. You have to remember, Ducati being a small company has done quite a job trying to get a bike up to Rossi's standards. It would seem that Ducati would want nothing more than to retain Vale til the end of his career and have him win on the bike. I do not doubt for one second that Ducati will come out on top sooner than later. Rossi will be the beneficiary of their efforts, as well as Nicky. There is Rossi's legend and ego to consider in this dilemma. To his Ego, this has to find to work. There is no alternative on other teams, or his own team. At least at Ducati he will be given everything without question and he can stay more focused on just the bike instead of being a team principle as well. Rossi is smart, he will stay at Ducati and make his "Doctor" moniker have meaning again.

I went "Stay at Ducati,, for 1 - "finish what you started" and 2 - I'm not convinced that he is welcome at either Honda or Yamaha. Honda have already bribed Carmelo to nix the rookie rule for Marquez and I still believe that Dani is a solid number 2 rider. Yamaha and Jorge are married and VR would only serve to steal points from him. And a satellite Honda would still be second tier bike with no/limited development, Honda would make sure that it wouldn't threaten the factory team,,, How stupid would Honda look if the factory team that they were throwing all sorts of money at, lost the championship to a satellite team. (Sounds even more ridiculous after I wrote it,, not gonna happen).

I know I'm alone on the mountain when I say that I don't think the the Ducati is slow.. Nicky proved that for 5 laps at Silverstone. Tire management is the next hurdle for Ducati. That and a bit stronger engine, and I see VR/NH a lot closer to the front next year.

The way I see it is that he really doesn't have a choice,,, then there's World Superbike...

Its still quite unpredictable........although the man himself alluded to the state of play when he said 'the only thing standing in the way of another deal with Ducati is a competitive bike' if anyone thinks that a few quali style laps before burning out his rubber and sinking faster than iron from Nicky equates to a competitive bike, then they need to look further into it.......

Otherwise Rossi will have options lined up from both Yamaha and Honda I believe.

- Yamaha need a title sponsor, Jorge is not against having Rossi back- absolute domination like 2009-2010.

- Honda have no chance of beating Lorenzo without Rossi, considering current options. They may end up with a contender in Marquez, but he is still struggling to beat his adversaries in Moto2-let alone who he will face in the big time. No one would upset Lorenzo like Rossi on the factory Honda

It's either Honda or Yamaha and if he can't get ride with them then retirement. I am sure it's no fun for him fighting with Hector for 9th place

every other race.

I would be glad to help Rossi decide. But .... 'em... he didn't listen to me last time.

I wonder how long Pramac and Cardon are going to persist with Ducati satellites? If they dump them, Ducati loses a lot of their GP funding and, given they have new owners, may be the kiss of death to any more big-money contracts.

That would allow Rossi to bow out gracefully - they can't pay him what he is worth. As it stands, he has taken a massive amount of money from the race budget for his salary and given sod-all back in the way of high-profile returns the marketing department can use. While they are in the news a lot, it isn't for standing on the podium.

Audi are a very pragmatic company when it comes to their own race departments. I can't see them giving a pass to Ducati Corse to spend large amounts of money in the future. I would hate to think how much they have spent going from the GP10 to now...

Rossi will take care of himself, maybe we should help Ducati decide.

But, wait, they are already looking for Rossi's replacement: so they do not need our advice either!
