Where should he go?

  • [] Gresini Honda

    [] Factory Yamaha

    [] Stay at Ducati

    [] Form own 'Team Rossi

[]He should go home as im fed up with all the ........ that surrounds it.

Team Rossi. I think his winning days are over as a rider at this level. However, he can form and build (riding himself in the beginning) a new team so future champions can win under the Rossi name. His name has taken a huge battering since going to Ducati. If he starts something new (like his own team) as a long term project, all this Ducati stuff will be conveniently forgotten.

You are kidding, right? You can honestly say that if he was Jorge's team-mate this year he wouldn't be on the podium every single race?

I think you need to pass the pipe along - stop bogarting.

A podium every race? Hardly.

Flossi would probably win a few, but I honestly think J-Lo and CS would clean his clock most weekends, and that Peddles would occasionally beat him as well. IMO, he'd finish 3rd at year's end, with a points haul halfway between JL/CS and DP.

You're kidding right? It would be jorge and rossi 1 and 2 in the championship right now, with casey 3rd.

Arm pump and lack of motivation aren't working in casey's favour.

Dani couldn't win a championship on a championship winning bike.

Rossi needs to either make peace with jorge and become teammates. Then win the championship and prove that he is better.

OR

Go to Honda with his full team and challenge Jorge, making Honda realize that their best hope for a championship is him not dani.

OR

Suck it up and stay at Ducati and try to develop the bike for future riders. None of this satellite BS is going to help Rossi's legacy or win %. At least at Ducati he can stay he's trying to make an unridable bike ridable for the future of Ducati.

He wasn't on the podium at every race 3 years ago when he was still on the Yamaha.

Rossi if he is not on a factory Ducati will not be on any other factory bike!

He will be on a satellite bike under a private team!

Think how he came to play in GP.

And what a fitting end to finish the same way!?

Rumours are rife in the paddock!

Just 1 to throw into the mix

Hey Kesh, sorry to tell you, Rossi is the most successful racer of the modern era. As your countryman says, numbers don't lie, doesn't matter how you try an dress it up, Lorenzo is the only rider in danger of coming close. Stoner is half a season from joining the list of 2 time champions, end of 2012, he is history, unless he does some Spenceresque comebacks to properly drag his name through the dirt. More than Likely he will join Bayliss in the happy dreamworld of what might have been.

What makes me laugh is that all you boners shouting bout how Stoner is awesome an Rossi is pish forget who took the title back from him in 08 an 09, back when he was givin it Sekonda big time. His post Laguna 08 meltdown was frankly embarrassing to watch, in 09 his "health issues" gave him a get out clause, but faced with a fully fit Jorge in 2010, there was no place to run. He did not defend his title in 08 and he wont in 2012.

There will be no mention of his name on here this time next year, the boners will be gone, and normal service will be resumed.

Wow, Pete. You really are an angry man. I can relate to that, I get worked-up too. But, Stoner will be in "the dreamworld of what could have been"? He has won 2 premier class titles. 2 more than you, I, or any other mug on this forum. ANY rider on the MotoGp grid must be a top rider just to be there. Then to win a title is something else. What more does he have to do? It wouldn't matter if he won a bag more of titles, there will always be guys like you discounting his achievements.

Maybe, the guy would be happy that "there will be no mention of his name on here this time next year". Maybe the "boners" will be better off moving on and allowing you guys to stroke each other off over your collected love for the magical #46 without interruption. It's pretty sad that there is a group of you guys eagerly counting down the days to when Stoner is leaving. Who will you guys hate on when the boners leave?

No, I'm not an angry man, ask any of the guys who haves met me. And if you read my posts you will see that they are not the perceived Rossi .... fest. Unfortunately, with a lotof folks on here, they just want to read about Super Speed King and that anyone else is ...... Next season he will be as relevant to what happens on track as John Surtees, because he is gone. No doubt we will then be reading about what he could have achieved, like the misguided crap we read about Bayliss motogp career.

I keep saying it but some folk don't get it, read what I say, I've been giving more props to Jorge than. Rossi for a hell of a long time, and last season I was firmly in the Super Sic camp. But what I do get annoyed with is folk rewriting history, and when you correct them you are a bopper.

Numbers don't lie

"Rossi is the best"

"Nah, Stoner is the best"

"Rossi has won more titles"

"Stoner has won more head to head"

"Rossi is the GOAT - He has won more races"

"Stoner is the GOAT - He is the only one to tame the Ducati"

"Rossi IS THE GREATEST! He can turn water into wine"

"Stoner IS THE GREATEST! He can walk on water"

Good grief....

I think I'M gonna retire at the end of this season...

What a freakin' tragedy!

I know I'm sounding pedantic Phil, but that satellite squad was always destined to become a fully fledged factory effort in 2000 and wasn't strictly a private team due to the strong factory affiliation. They may have commenced the season on what was ostensibly a customer bike (the previous years machine) but the programme was very much oriented to Valentino's development as a Honda rider along with the bike. Wasn't Valentino contracted to HRC taking Mick's place inheriting bike and crew and even Doohan as a mentor. Ultimately there were four factory bikes altogether, with Criville, Okada and Gibernau racing under the Repsol livery whilst Valentino ran the personal Nastro Azzurro sponsor. As the results progressively came, so did the factory parts. By the end of the year the Nastro Azzurro NSR was arguably the No.1 bike. You can be certain that Honda wouldn't be so forthcoming over a decade later - even if Vale is still capable of beating the full factory repsol bikes.

I agree though, word is we could see Rossi purchase his own team franchise with access to a degree of factory support from HRC - So would this increase if the results were favourable? To an extent, you have to believe so. Don't rule out a furtive talks with Yamaha either - I think he's better off there. Rossi held the grudge to my eyes over the equal treatment of Jorge. There wasn't anywhere near the level of acrimony accompanying his departure from Honda.

The other possibility which no one has considered - you heard it here first - Rossi and teammate Hector Barbera to spearhead the resurgence of Bultaco who have secretly developed a four stroke racing prototype in conjunction with Ilmor to resurrect the brand. Prepare for a full a full factory assault on Moto GP spearheaded by team manager and Director Sete Gibernau and financial and marketing manager Gibo Baldi. Personal team sponsor is expected to be a return to Feleni - manufacturers of quality chicken filled Frankfurters. This raises the hilarious possibility and 'mouth watering' prospect of Valentino riding any parade lap with a rubber chicken strapped to his back again or even a return appearance for Osvaldo and even the tacky egg gimmick/thingie from 2009. A similar return deal with Altadis has been ruled out since current regulations (as opposed to Valentino's principles/scruples) prevent promotion of tobacco. The bike is currently rumoured to be undergoing secret development at Albacete with test riders Fonsi Nietto and Jay Vincent.

He wasn't on the podium at every race 3 years ago when he was still on the Yamaha.

To be fair, the times he started a race he was on the podium all bar 3 occasions.

Still think Zoot is the one smoking crack with his "on the podium every single race", but I'm pretty sure he'd win a few, be on the podium a lot, and have a outside shot at the WC.

Of course he would, and he is undoubtedly the greatest of all time as it stands. This however, at least imo, does not mean that all other achievements in gp racing are entirely negligible, particularly (leaving stoner out of it) those of freddie spencer.

Interesting news about Bultaco.

Cheers.
