Hayden: Lack of wins down to riders

Nicky Hayden is adamant that this year's Ducati GP10 is capable of winning races against Yamaha and Honda.

Neither Hayden nor Casey Stoner have finished on the podium so far this season, but the American insists that the Ducati will be a winner when the riders get the best out of it. Stoner crashed out of the lead in both Qatar and France.

"We just haven't put it together," Hayden said. "In a couple of the races Casey crashed out of, he had a good shot to win. I believe our bike is good enough to win and even Casey will say our bike is capable of winning races this year.

"It's not the bike keeping us from it. Sure, we can improve it, and it's not the dominant bike, but our package is strong. I think we have the potential."

For now, Hayden is just aiming for a podium finish at Silverstone this weekend.

"The podium is the next step for us," he added. "Without Valentino [Rossi], you are one step closer. I hate to say it like that, but it's true. But there are plenty of guys out there that are going to be hard to beat and are thinking the same thing.

"I think it could be a little bit more wide open, but it's the same guys that are going to be near the front. It's a big challenge and I like it a lot. I wish we went to more new tracks."

Yes i saw that too.

It seems the headline is more dramatic than what he seems to mean.

I get the feeling he's actually saying team and riders haven't found the right setup yet.But they are not so far away.

It seems like Hayden has to do alot of talking to media as Stoner prefers not to.And with the recent world ducati week especially,Hayden does a good job telling the world the Ducati is a great bike.

Stoner said in an interview that the chassis is same as last year, only forks are new, despite different behaviour from last years engine.

Anyway,i hope they find a solution to the frontend problems as perhaps Hayden did in Mugello what Stoner did in Quatar and LeMans.

Exactly the point i have been making so far in my several posts but Jumkie and few others were putting all the blame down to Ducati

Hayden just made Jumkie look stupid with above statement who has been saying that Ducati handling is .... and they are just little better than Suzuki

Its a game the media play. They always try and start drama. Hayden never feeds the trolls.

Probably selective reporting.

From motogp.com

“I’m pretty happy with the bike, the team and everything, I’m just not so happy with my mistake at Mugello. I tried a bit too hard there and it’s true we need to improve something in the front of the bike to give us a little more confidence,” said Hayden at the official AirAsia British Grand Prix pre-event at Lord’s cricket ground.

Never jump in too soon with the boots my friend.

Barry bullshitter you need to pay bit more attention to season so far, Casey crashed once leading the race and once in leading pack, its not Ducati fault is it.

What makes u think im not having fun with u?

Oh wait, u need one of these--
<

On serious note Jumkie whats your take so far on this matter are you really think that its fair to put all the blame down to Ducati for Casey's poor performance especially

when Nicky is getting better and better.

He can be right, since Casey has had problems with his confidence also.

It takes a few more gp's to see if it's the bike's fault or if the rider's or if both.

There must be something wrong with the bike, that Stoner isn't confident with it, but at the same time maybe if Casey had finished his race in Qatar, he would have had a better season so far.

Where's your Stat.s on this?

I think the stats show that Nicky is pretty well up to his usual consistant self. Not a dig, it's won him a title! He's got the Duke working well for himself, and it's good to see Nicky back at the sharp end again. In my opinion it's hard to say how the bike is working for Spencer, sorry Stoner because he's back to his old crashy ways. Is it the bike? Stoner? gawd knows, it's not as if falling off when in front or near it is unusual for him, however the bike is going. Having Lorenzo on fire just now probably isn't doing Casey any favours up top, the bar's been raised again, an he's playing catch up to another pesky Yamaha, and even Pedrosa is looking dangerous this year.

Here's to the Cruisin Caretaker for top Duke this year.

Who thought they'd hear the cheeky Scottish ....... say that?????????

Pete

I think it's pretty evident that the Ducati is capable of wins. I think the Yamaha is still the package to have, and I think Honda isn't far off, but the Ducati is certainly a capable bike. Hayden has it sorted to the point where he's bettering the results he scored in 2008 on a relatively capable Honda. To achieve the best results of Hayden's 800cc career says something about the bike. The fact that Stoner has been struggling I think doesn't mean much. I think he's had a few unexpected falls and Hayden has performed better than anyone expected this season and I think that's dinged his confidence considerably.

That being said, he still has the package and pace to get back to his best and give Lorenzo some trouble.

Well thats all very lovely sure Hayden goes better on the 2010 bike than he did on the 09 ..... but I ( and assumed you ) was talking about the 2010 bike .... upon which Hayden has got lots of 4th's and a DNF ....... how is that "better and better"?
<
its stabilised .... you could say he has "peaked" or hit a "trough", but since when has one 4th place been better than another
