GLOTEGI GP 2011: Predictions, Practice, Qual

that was awesome. I loved lorenzo popping up the wheelie with 5 mins to go, he must have known that was a cracker of a lap
<

something interesting to note too, that was the first time this year (weather aside) that VR has gone faster than Casey did last year on the duke. Ironically though. they both changed riding positions at this track and turned their seasons around.

‘Digger’ with all due respect…how can you compare 2010 to 2011??? at Montegi or any other track, when in 2010 the pole position was 1’47.001 and in 2011 its 1’45.267 that is 1.734 seconds quicker this year to last year!

And Valentino was the best of the Yamaha and he did a 1’47.055 and Casey did a best on the Ducati of 1’47.105, the difference between them was only a miniscule of 0.050 of a second, now if you want to compare apples with apples and not apples with bananas then compare Valentino to Jorge this year because that is how you are comparing 2011 with 2010! This year Jorge did a 1'45.523 and Valentino did a 1'46.467 the difference between 2010 & 2011 is 0.944 of a second.

Now if we want to compare Pole position in 2010 which was held by a Honda at 1’47.001 and the best of the Ducati in 2010 at 1’47.105 the difference is only 0.104 of a second now statistics say lots of interesting and different things and it gets worst for Valentino if we want to compare pole time to the best of the Ducati time in 2011.

Pole position in 2011 (btw Stoners time is quicker then the 100 Duke that held pole here in 2005 & 2006)which is held by a Honda once again is at 1'45.267 and the best of the Ducati is at 1'46.467 the difference is a whopping 1.200 second! Or if you want to go even further then the difference between pole in 2010 and pole in 2011 is even greater its 1.734 seconds.

Not really trying to compare them mate, I just thought it was an interesting point

vale is still up the .... no matter what spin u put on it haha

Inside sources say the third arm growing off his back was getting too large and as soon as alpine stars can sew on another sleeve he will be back out on the track.

Hes quoted as saying " im glad I came out to Motegi. This new arm thing was a bit alarming at first but now I think its an advantage. Dani Casey and Vale stick their leg out around corners to help balance and look how fast they are. I believe I can use my new arm in the same capacity. Besides this thing is the ..... You know that sweet spot between your shoulder blades that always itches but you can never reach. Problem solved"

Your right about the 3rd arm. But it was already growing before he left. Spies says:

“What a shocking start to the weekend, I don’t think I’ve ever been as sick as I was on the journey over here, I was nearly not allowed on the plane."

They must have been a bit worried about the big lump under his shirt?

Jumkie, Curve, Jonny, Digger and the boppers, could you guys stop posting boring posts, I'm getting old and I don't want to waste even 1 second of the rest of my life.

Saw very little of the Lorenzo fast lap, but what i did see freaked me out. I thought he was down it was leaned over so far. You reckon Stoner would do any better on the Yam than Lorenzo? I doubt it, I would say they are are pretty much equals. Which means Rossi is equal on a Yamaha too eh? yeah we already knew that.........................blah blah blah another irrelevent post (to bother Jumkie a bit more hahah).

Did anyone notice Stoner crossed up and squaring off the last corner on his flying lap. I thought they cant do that on 800's?

well atm

we can conclude

on the ducati: Stoner > Rossi

on the honda: Stoner > Pedrosa

On the yamaha: Lorenzo > Rossi

On the Honda, Yamaha (respectively): Stoner > Lorenzo

p.s interesting to note: take out stoner out of the 2011 equation, yamaha/lorenzo would be easily LEADING the championship and would be considered the best bike on the grid

similarly to the 2007 season. rossi would of easily won that year aswell.

common denominator?? hmmmm naaah couldnt be?

stoner .250 ish up on 2008 qualifying record, wow these control tyres must be horrible!

For those who said that Bridgestone has gone on vacation, here is a little something to ponder. Without the sticky q tires, qualifying records have been broke on 9 of the 18 tracks since the q tires were banished. Bike development, resurfaced tracks and weather conditions all played a role, but so did tire development, proving Bridgestone has not been asleep at the wheel.

There is no way in hell Scotty wrote this. It is lucid, has punctuation, and even makes sense.

Now that the racing is happening, the bitching about radiation fears seems to have dissipated.

hopefully i'll see it live 7am here so not too bad the Hondas gonna gang up on J-LO

not a lover of the point n shoot track

Casey gonna wait for P.I To get the 2011 glory

Correct me here but in the coverage I saw there was talk of major resurfacing works at the track.

Not knowing how much (as it was not the entire track) it would be safe to say that some of the all round improvements (all riders) could be attributed to this and the recent car racing laying a large degree of rubber (commentary team mentioned)

first FP & QP session ive had time to watch for a few month really enjoyed it.

blistering times from stoner and jorge, but stoner got the upper hand, i think stoner will dissapere tho tomorow as i noticed jlo had to push the yamaha to the limit today and not sure if he can string lots of fast ones together like casey is gonna do.

if lorenzo can hang on and slow casey abit with a fight he maybe in with a chance so thats what im hoping happens.

i hope we dont have rain....

Stoner said in his post qualy interview the new track surface was awesome and definitely helped bring down the GP times....maybe he took the Indy criticism to heart.... I think it was resurfaced after the Earthquake/Tsunami due to major cracks appearing in the surface.

Just to add to your observations, i may be mistaken but vale looked like he is finally allowing the duc to move aroind a lot more especially on exit of corners. He traditionally likes his bikes to handle like theyre on rails, perhaps the "on the edge" riding style change has been the most significant modification thus far.

It certainly payed dividends in quali..
