He was always fast in Motegi, I believe because of the numerous hard acceleration areas where is has an advantage. I wonder whether he can stay in front of Stoner on Sunday.

Why?
Well now, with only 4 races to go is where teamwork should start to come into things by riders like DP, Dovi, Spies etc ensuring that they do not take points of the guys seriously fighting for a championship. Like it or not, agree with it or not, the simple fact remains that whilst this sport is individual it is also about teamwork and we now are at the close of the season where points taken unnecessarily could decide the championship.
All that said however, for my way of thinking Spies is in the bigger position (or more pressured) as his team-mate is currently in need to make up more points, thus Spies has a large role to play. The Honda boys simply need to know where JL is in relation to CS and as long as CS is in front of JL then I suspect that no position changes, sudden off track excursions or bike problems will occur.
How it can be done is easy and unofficial so I will be interested in watching the riders to see how they react over the next few races until the championship is decided.

If the championship was closer, i would say it not only would happen, but should happen.If you are hopelessly out of the championship, you should do everything within reason to help your teammate and team. Unlike F1, where from day one, drivers have their marching orders, Gp seems to let it play out till its the right time to play team sport. Unless something drastic happens, i dont think we will see any shenanigans from Dani or Spies.

My friend, we are talking about Pedrosa here right? The man is controlled by Alberto Puig still, right? There is no doubt, if he can stay in front of Stoners, he will. He doens't give one flying .... about team orders. And neither does Honda. On top of all this, I seriously doubt Stoner will need it anyway. He's 1000 points ahead.
It could work both ways. Dani will be highly motivated to beat stoner with the talk of marquez testing, but not following honda's wishes is unlikely to be fruitful as dovi has demostrated. I tend to agree with you, that he will not give way for stoner or even be asked to do so with stoner in such a comfortable position. If in a future race doing so will clinch the championship for stoner/honda maybe then.

FP3. Everyone found a gob of time, and VR 'found' Nicky's setup.... (Yea, I know. They aren't even on the same bike.)
With 30 min to go, Stoner is in the low 1:46 range, ~1/2 sec up on the rest of the Hondas.
It must be frustrating for Jorge; he has caught up to Honda FP2 times, only to see them bugger off down the road once again.

The end of the season will bring two things to the fore - one corner of the garage making a lot of noise and not getting a championship - the other side of the garage making little noise and bringing in the championship.
