right, I just read your post in the introduction part of the forum
what's good:
- campings: we always go to the Dianaheide in westerbork. it's 20 minutes away from the track. plus points are: 8 minutes clean warm showers, clean toilets, a pool for hot weathers, nice breakfast every morning, very kind owner and you'll have a quiet night sleep when you get back from assen-centre
bad thing: it costs a bit more.
campings a la pastures like Asserboys, Jan&Bertha etc. MAP:
3481:campings_assen.JPG]
Number 5 Camping Sudosa, Number 14 camping dijkstra, Number 15 camping Buitenpret have warm showers!! could be that other campings have it too, but they don't mention it on their websites.
- parking your bike in the centre at the guarded-parkingspaces of Unicvé for free. you'll get a stamp and thats it... thats during the tt-festival btw
- the TT-festival in the city with a fair rollercoasters, bungeejump etc and bands/artist on 6 different podia
- there are like, 3 or 4 ways to get on the track and off the track. during the wsbk this year they were still busy with making all the lanes twice as big, so thats a
too
whats bad:
- police. really, they rent german cops only because they don't have enough policemen in their region. don't drive with alcohol and don't do illegal things, cause the chance that you'll get caught is very high.
- ofcourse, when thousands of people want to leave the track at the same time, you'll get a file
so don't be stubborn to join them in the file, just sit back and relax while the sidecars are racing after the motogp-race! you can even go to a tribune if you have a sore ... from sitting in the grass, all tribunes are free when the motogp has finished.
what to bring to the track:
- food. prices are ridiculously high at the track
- drinks, but no alcohol and I'm not sure if they allow cans. bottles and those cardboared packs etc are ok. a golden tip is to bring your own alcohol is to put it in soda-bottles. like cola with rum, beer etc
- be prepaired for any weather condition. bring sunblock, but also bring plastic and umbrella's. weather can change every hour over here
- bring binoculars. doesn't matter where you sit, you're still close at the track, but with binoculars you see a lot more.
what not to bring:
- knives etc will get thrown away. there was a time they completely searched everyone from top to bottom, and your bags where searched completely. what you can do, if you need a knife we needed one to help us make space for our seats when we still went with general admission tickets, is to put it between your bra and your skin
- a bad mood
where to sit if you have general admission tickets:
- first of all, COME EARLY to the track. doors are open at 5am
this is what my cousin always does: he goes out on friday night, pulls an all-nighter till 5am to go to the track. then he has the annoying habbit to ring me up drunk and tell me he's at the track already. and he sleeps at the track in the grass. so actually you don't really need a camping
- what I've seen is that de Bult is fantastic place to sit. especially the part in the corner see the yellow map I put on earlier I sat there too this year with the WSBK, the riders pass you by really closely and you can see them work really hard with breaking for the corner, accelerating and only to break again for the next corner..
if you go to the stekkenwal tribune, you can get a place on the ruskenhoek/stekkenwal too. it's an awsome place, but I know that a lot of people want to sit there...
all places have videowalls, so thats a
again
I'm SOOO excited for it already
writing this only brings back fun memories!
