Hi Guys,

I want to go to Catalunya this year.

Has anyone been there?

Is it possible to access the paddock on Thursday? Can you recommend a certain grandstand?

How far is it from the metro Montmelo to the track?

Thanks,
Sina

Well, AFAIK I haven't anounced anything, but sure I'm comming, like last year I'll be there from Wednesday to Saturday, traveling with the only suitable transport, my bike. This time the trip go from Oslo to Hirtshals (denmark) by overnight ferry, and from there via Hamburg (Lois Superstore) and assen on wednesday afternoon. A nice 600km stretch on the Autobahn.
This year we are sitting on Winterdijk. Section EW, row 3-4, seat 29-35.
Gert Timmer was allready sold out, and that was early in january.

A tip for a good camping is the sports/football club. Toilets and showers available and reasonably quiet (but ear plugs can be a good idea anyway) Guarded MC parking. It's placed between the center and the track. 15 min walk from the center and 20 to the track. Very nice to be in walking distance on race day and when thumbeling back from down town

SinaHi Sina, been there before and going there again this year. if you go to the catalunya circuit website you can get a camera view from each stand, but i'd say you'd be very unlucky to get a bad vantage point at catalunya. there are huge screens everywhere and the spanish race fans are, quite frankly, mad. i assume the metro montmelo is the station at the circuit? if so then it is not that far, 20 minute walk perhaps. have fun!

maybe we should all meet up?? or is that to much fuss to organize?

to much of a fuss... how hard is it to just pick a place & time to meet up? cmon put a little effort into it.and we want to see some pics.

let's just wait and see if people want to meet up first before planning stuff. if no one else wants to beside neil and I, then it's not going to be a big deal to organize

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Very little fuzz solution: Meet at lunsj time at the track on Friday.

yeah I agree, that would be easiest. though here's the first problem: I'm not sure yet if I'm going to be able to be there on friday, my uni exams start on 23/6 till 11/7 2008. I have to wait a couple of weeks to see what my schedule will be like, let's hope I can be there on friday too

don't worry, we've plenty of time left before the TT, I assume we're going to make a decision about when, where and at what time if it's almost the end of june. can't wait btw

right, I'm a tiny bit bored so here goes some more random info:

Parking! some farmers have their land as a parkinglot. you have to pay to park there (which is RIDICULOUS and a pure rip-off imo) so there are 3 spots where you can park your bike or car if your lazy we always go to the main grand stand parking space on thursdays and fridays, it's good with pavements for the bikes and I've never heard stories of things that get stolen there.

Rather than explaining it to the point where everyone gets lost, I made a map. those P's and the black lines are my creations
<
for the smarter ones amoung us: P is for Parking

3 main entrences. not so difficult, but very handy to know if you are sitting on the Ruskenhoek and you think the only way to get to the track is to park your bike behind the main entrence. cause then you'll be busy walking around for like, 90 minutes to your spot. if you want to know detailed route description you going to have to wait till my dad comes home to tell me it
<

then another thing, we should all say where we're sitting if when we know it, cause Babelfish is going to sit at the winterdijk (that's on the left from the Geert Timmer Bocht, see map) and I'm sitting at the stekkenwal (see map) that's not exactly right next to eachother
<
but then again, if we meet on friday, that's no problem at all. but still. let us know
<

On saturday that would be a problem. True. On thursday I plan to walk around to stekkenwal to see what I miss.

Nice map btw. My bike will be safely parked in a guarded parking lot at the sports club most of the time, but I guess others will be riding in for the day.

that's another option yeah. but don't you have to walk like, really far, to get to the track if you park at the sports club?

we always park the bike during fridaynights near the trainstation on the left (near the fair) or in the city with Univé. you get a stamp on your hand that you're there, it's free and it's guarded
<
spoken like a true dutch person, don't want to pay to much huh

That's where I camp, the parking is reserved and included for campers. Well, it's a 20-30min walk but I can live with that. The options I guess would be endless lines to get on a bus or waiting for a cab.
Anyway a 30min walk don't harm the general condition after a late night out
<

just got my exam schedule and guess what
<
I've an exam on friday...

I have 3 options now: going to assen on friday and don't go to friday exam and go to the 2nd try in august OR try to reschedule it OR go to the exam.

I'm a bit disapointed atm
