Tech3 have just announced that Folger is not recovered enough to compete in the 2018 season, shocker.

So, who will replace him? Anyone worthwhile in GP or the lower categories will already be signed, and anyone free would not want to ride just a year before being booted out I imagine. They could use one of their Moto2 riders Bo Bendsneyder or Remy Gardner I guess.

Alex Lowe s
Johnny tea
Loris baz
Would be my guess.

Lowes - Possibly, but given Sam's performances in MotoGP last yr, I doubt anyone with the name Lowes is high on a teams list right now. He's hardly blown away VDM either. If any of the Pata Yamaha riders get this seat, it will be VDM

Baz - He's already got a signed WSBK contract, and I doubt Tech3 want him enough to buy that out

Rea - No way. He has always said he wants a factory bike in GP.

With the amount some posters here wine, I mean whine..they'd be perfect for a French team.

I'd offer the ride to Miguel Oliveira (though he'd probably wait a year for the KTM Factory bike).

What a shame for Jonas and his ambitions...Hope he will get healthy soon.
It must be unbelievable hard to cancel the thing that you ever wanted and you don't know if you will get the chance again. Very brave move from Jonas.
Not many riders left. Don't think Herve will give the ride another rookie. Bradl is an opportunity, Baz. Maybe Alex Lowe's, he did a good job when he rode the M1, vdM was rubbish and the Japanese riders are to slow.

But he's also under contract and I can't see him leaving KTM anyway, he's guaranteed a motogp slot next year (2019)

Shattered for the guy .............. gets a chance only for illness to destroy it

Move Nakasuga or one of the Japanese test riders to MGP and see if Folgers illness would prevent him being a test rider

How about Josh Brookes :ninja:

Though they would have to release him for the North West and IOM races so that probably wouldn't happen, plus he's just signed for the Yamaha BSB team.

Go for Ant West or Van der Mark.

How about Cam Beaubier, he is probably under contract but with Graves who probably could be convinced by Yamaha to let him out.

Ben Spies on the miracle comeback tour

Colin Edwards to make Rossi look young

Or a different rider from the local country at each race just to showcase some new national talent

Or Guy Martin just for a laugh

Guy would still be marveling at the technology of the bike as the field lapped him.

"It's bloody mint, mint, it ain't missed a beat, that's proper engineering that, oh .... there's that Spanish whippersnapper and that Rossi fella, by 'eck!"

Going to throw this out there, because I am a fan and would like to see another Yank in GP, and while putting it out there, I do realize it has zero chance, again 0 chance of happening, but.. Josh Herrin would be fun to watch in GP on a Yamaha.

Hahaha, I bet he'd also say I have to build my own engine as well. Sadly wouldn't happen his girlfriend has just had a baby and he's given up racing.

Rea, I bet he'd jump at it.

Honestly I don't think Guy would be quick enough anyway, even to qualify let alone do the bike justice.

Rea probably would if he wasn't contracted to Kawasaki.

Spies would have been perfect but he is in the ....... hospital nursing a shoulder from a bicycle crash

He's young married and they have a baby, that tells me all i need to know, how many riders over the last 50 years have died racing when they have babies at home, its quite a few.
Family has to come before your kicks.
