I saw a video of the '96 Doohan/Criville rivalry on youtube a while back. That was a pretty nasty crash. Also had footage from inside the HRC pit (

) where Doohan gave him a good tounge lashing (It was so cool hearing Doohan say "........! Do you know what racing is?" and not "So, Valentino, you're having such a great season!" like channel ten make him do at PI nowdays) Pity all of it (apart from tha argument) was in Spanish.

Jerez 2005
Assen 2006
Valencia 2005

To bad this was not a superbike question. There have been so many great world sbk races in the past 3 years.

To bad this was not a superbike question. There have been so many great world sbk races in the past 3 years.Get a hold of Phillip Island WSB 1999, We get to see Haga for the first time, riding on the old YZF750 replacing an injured Edwards, kicking everyones ... in both races and losing the front and saving it on is knee every bloody lap! Totally awesome.

I'll add Mugello 06 to my list....................battle royale between the Italians!

i would have to say........ got to be jerez 05. i think i almost burst a blood vessel during that 1. but there have been so many great 1s!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (The Doc 79 @ Oct 18 2006, 01:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>cool question....I'd still say the "coolest" race was the Rossi/Biaggi middle finger incident in 01.....that was awesome....."little caesar" didn't like that one.....hahahaha

that was the fist fight incedent also! classic!!!!

my trouble with giving my favourite race is that after a couple of weeks I can't tell which race was were and what happend were
<
I know that the sachsenringrace this year was fantastic, but I've no clue what happend
<

I remember that Welcome race with rossi's first race in south africa. and I loved that wet-race in donnington when everybody fell of their bikes and some regular rider grapped the win. I loved that race when rossi won and biaggi came in second, and that they were fighting behind the stage but I've no idea which race that was...

I loved the TT-assen superbike race of 2006!! JT was fantastic! and I remember what happend, so that shall be my favorite

Oh god.. brain overload
<
.. so many great races..

It's hard to name just one tbh.. so i'll just list a few of my favourites.. although ive not seen many pre-2002 races.. does anyone know where you can download older races?

German GP 1991
Czech GP 1996
Japanese GP 2001
Australian GP 2001
Valencian GP 2002 (last lap battle between Rossi and Barros i believe)
French GP 2003
Australian GP 2003
South African GP 2004
Dutch GP 2004
Qatar Gp 2004
Australian Gp 2004
Spanish GP 2005 (although most of the race was a bit too technical for my liking.. the last lap rocked)
British GP 2005
German GP 2006
Dutch Gp 2006
Portuguese GP 2006

(and i have a feeling.. Valencian GP 2006
<
)

I AGREE WITH MOST OF YOU GUYS...THERE ARE TOO MANY TO NAME. ALTHOUGH I THINK WELKOM '04 WAS PROBABLY MOST ANTICIPATED RACE UNTIL VALENCIA '06.

Like others have said... just too many classics to choose from. It seems almost every round has had at least one amazing race from either the 125s 250s or 500s/MotoGP.

... can't say the same about car racing, though

Great races that come to mind:

Le Man (old circuit) 1988 -- Gardner, Lawson, Sarron and Schwantz in a classic fourway. Gardner had them gapped at the end, only for his bike to break down on the back straight on the last lap!

Suzuka 1989 -- Rainey and Schwantz. Some laps the lead changed at every corner.

Phillip Island 1989 and 1990 -- Classic Gardner. No wonder Lawson hated Phillip Island
<

Hockenheim 1991 -- More Rainey and Schwantz. Coming into the stadium on the last lap #34 just incredible!

Austria 1996(?) -- If my memory is correct, this was the first time Criville beat Doohan by pinching the win right at the end. And didn't Mick hate that! There's never been team orders (and team mates is a pretty loose term too!) at Repsol Honda--not when it was Rothmans Honda, either.

All of the others mentioned above were great too.

But picking out a favourite? Impossible!
