Ducati and Stoner together again????

Carolo Pernat telling it like it is. If Casey only wants a 1 year contract and Honda balks...would Casey really consider going back to Ducati???? I don't think that ever happens, but if your Ducati, you have to try. I imagine that sends chills down Rossi's spine, the thought of Casey coming back on the Duc and waxing everyone's ... with it next year.

Kinda also suggests that Rossi will be sacked or not be there next year.

I wonder if Stoner has his eyes on a Yamaha Ride, thus being the only rider to win a WC on 3 brands.?

Maybe Hayden gets the boot and Stoner is drafted in as lead rider (reducing Rossi's salary by more than a half so they can afford to pay Stoner 20million euro) and Rossi just becomes the Pedrosa (PR Rider) of the team. Imagine the melt down.

No way in hell would Rossi agree to that. He'd retire and live on the moon before being demolished by Casey on the same team. (Which would happen at Ducati, let's be honest)

And I think Casey will be done at the end of 2013, finishing his career with Honda with a (hopefully) intact body. Why would he go back to Duc? He can race for the best team and win another title or two at Honda without risking life and limb for a podium.

Of course it would never happen, not in a million years, not for a billion dollars would Rossi ride in a team with Stoner. Even in 2006 Rossi was blocking Stoner from being his team mate in 2007.

Anyone know why Stoner is adamant about a one year contract. Has he set the end of 2013 as his retirement date

I don't think he wants to be caught on the wrong bike or in the wrong situation at the wrong time. If Honda don't deliver or don't prioritise then he can go else where and lets face it every team would make a space for Stoner to be their #1 rider. Also, surely his value goes up with every championship, so why lock in now.

David emmett thinks him retiring at the end of 2013 is a possibility. I tend to agree.

I think it's a possibility. I also think that if he was going to race in 2014 for someone other than Honda, Ben would be looking for a new ride.

IMO, Mental has hit the nail on the head - he wants to keep his options open. Plus the additional leverage he gets by holding out.

If he Hat tricks it into 2013 Im Sure he'll retire, by then his daughter will be at the age where she can interact with him and he'll probably want to stay home instead of running around the world racing motorcycles.

the only way i see him staying is if lorenzo or pedrosa can steal a title from him or a young gun like Marquez making him look bad in 2013, But as of now thats very unlikely to happen

Hi California Kid

Are you from California because I love California.

We have already seen CS vs VR, Valencia 2010 when VR was what, 1.8 seconds off what CS did on the same bike, while CS hops on the Honda and is quickest, so the "new bike" excuse doesn't fly!

But I would love more than anything to see CS hop back on the Duc with VR as his teammate, and DESTROY him!

That's why VR doesn't want CS as a teammate, knows his fragile ego will be crushed!
