Dovi rejects Ducati’s initial offer!

What I don't understand (and maybe I am over simplifying things), but, if you're Ducati, you have a rider that came close to the title last year and is currently leading the championship, he's the only guy since Casey who can win consistently on the bike, you could (probably) sign him for half the wages of your other rider, then why mess around?
Do you think they are still treating him as if he's 2016 Dovi?

Edited to add that he is the only guy who, in the last year and the entire field, can regularly take it to Marc and, as the icing on the cake, is an Italian on an Italian bike!

And wasnt Dovi the second winningest Ducati ever ... apart from Stoners Duc. title year?

Make no mistake, Dovi will be signed. What his agent is doing is the same .... Lorenzo's, Rossi's, and most laughably Cuntslow's agents did to increase the paycheck. Pretending publicly they got options, raise the spector, then cash in when the factory blinks. Neither really want to go nuclear option. Dovi is as good as signed, it's just a matter of number now. Lorenzo is making it easy for Dovi's agent.

If you live in a glass house don't throw rocks.

The way these teams collude to keep salaries down, I would guess there are very few secrets on who’s offered who what.

Yes, but never underestimate the mind once the opportunity presents itself. It looked bleak, but a Marc DNF could have changed the parallels of the universe. Long shot, then again, who would have ever imagined Valencia 06? Seriously, think back, the title was done and dusted, VR on pole with points in the bag. Stranger things have happened.

The chances of Marc crashing were far greater than Dovi winning that race. He simply didn’t have the pace and proved it when he crashed trying to up the pace after Lorenzo crashed. Lorenzo in no way cost Dovi a title, that’s history revision.

You're revising my words Pov. For a person who carefully scrutinizes race takes, I'd like you to point out me saying 'Lorenzo cost Dovi the title.', what I said is that Lorenzo impeded the possibility (big difference) as well as other factors that needed to align for Dovi, one of which was Marc crashing, which he practically did. You have revised (nice way of saying twisted my words) to make a false point based on nothing I actually said.

This is racing, and anything can happen, you should know better than to suggest an outcome is predestined. Sure things are 'likely' and pace certainly is an indicator, but riders go wildly off scrip. I'm sure you didn't think Marc would risk a crash knowing the title was on the line, in fact he said it was a ‘mistake’--that means he did not plan it, and he basically crashed but miraculously saved it. I’m aware that the title was basically decided at PI in hind sight, which you may agree; but Lorenzo acting like a .... (at both Valencia and Malaysia) didn't help the many stars that needed to align. Your refusal to acknowledge is funny considering your usually solid takes on the sport, though I do remember your iron clad assertion that Lorenzo gift wrapped a win for Dovi, in the Malaysian ‘rain’, with 6 laps to go, and faked a crash (to save face I suppose) in letting Dovi by. Hahaha, it still cracks me up. Pov, I respect your ‘racing’ opinions, but that has got to be one of your worst takes ever. I’m not sure why you insist on letting Lorenzo off the hook old chap.

How is the realization that Dovi wouldn't have won, anyway, letting Lorenzo off the hook? Lorenzo claims he was helping Dovi. Many don't believe that story, so now it is Lorenzo's fault that Dovi crashed? That doesn't seem too logical.

Perhaps Dovi would have been closer with a Map8. However, I don't think there is evidence he had the pace to stick with Marquez. And Marquez would still have to drop like a Map9 to make a difference. Instead, he made one of the greatest moves that I have ever seen in ANY sport. Just for that, he deserved the title. ;)

Dovi came within a Lorenzo's map 8 and a rescinded contract by the laws of physics Marc crash, to win the title.

That looks an awful lot like “ had Marc crashed , Dovi would have won the title if not for Lorenzo ignoring team orders’
