It's happened before over the years. We've also seen amongst others Criville and Nieto in Spain, the likes of KR, Schwantz and Lawson in the States, Ago, the list is endless. Don't understand why this seems alien to you.

Absolutely. I wouldn't mind seeing foggy do a lap on a current ducati wsbk either. It is not as if it is being proposed doohan actually races. Even if it is only for the aussie crowd i don't see the problem. Since there is every reason to believe stoner's contention that mick is his hero, I imagine stoner will be happy for him to be there for his last australian gp as well, stoner hopefully being able to actually race.
Perhaps the australian gp is actually closer to mick's heart than goodwood for that matter. I seem to recall him winning it the odd time.
The real thing motogp has is the glorious history and tradition. If it doesn't interest you, fine, but it does many others.
