I know its a bit out of date but i was really suprised with some of the hostility towards Rossi at Donnington. Although there were many Rossi fans there sporting t-shirts, caps, jackets etc we were stood on the foggy S's and they were very anti rossi people compared to last year. Did anyone else find the same? Maybe it was just where we were stood?

well this is what tom said in another thread about this sort of behavior and i think he is right.

However the reception that some (not all) of the spanish fans gave Rossi in Jerez this year was far far worse than anything i saw or heard at the British GP. Its not just British, its anywhere in the world that motorcycle racing is expanding beyond the core audience and appealing to the masses. It unfortunately comes with the growth and commercialization of the sport.

I was in the grandstand. Nine out of ten people supported Rossi to the extreme. However there were a couple who weren't upset to see him falling back. I still feel the support for him is unbelievable though. Wherever he goes its like he is riding a home race.

I was in the start/finish grandstand and I booed him for a joke after warm up and no one seems to like it so, they were all Rossi bum boys where I was.

You mean England

In the start/finish grandstand but might aswell be England, i'm getting increasing impatient with the British fans, everyone supports Rossi, I want atmospheres like you get at the Spanish rounds and Mugello with loads of people supporting different people.

But in Spain its only because there are alot of Spanish riders.

well my brother told me that Italy was so Rossi heavy that the noise for the other italian riders was almost negligable, and the problem with brits is that we have noone to support of our own.

True, well back when mad max was in GP's Mugello had a great atmosphere and I know its a problem that we have no homegrown talent in the GP's, and we haven't had since Sheene in all fairness.

But I would like to see more variety, a few Casey fans, Dani fans, Marco fans but all I see is yellow caps and yellow shirts.

Variation would be nice wouldn't it.

your having a laugh right ?

i went to a round in valencia and it was pretty much 50/50 of rossi and pedrosa fans.
besides wtf has it got to do with you who other people support, you do your thing and let others do theres.

The fans where I was stood weren't hostile!!! Lots and Lots of yellow caps and t-shirts, hidden mostly by umbrellas though!

Noticed there wasn't alot of support for Stoner! Guess it's too far for the Aussies to come and watch him

I was told by a chick that was at Donington, that people were booing Casey when he got on the podium!!

Can anyone give me more information on that ?

I guess that was coming from the Rossi fans that just cant hack that Rossi lost to Hayden last season and more then likely will let it slip to Stoner this year......Wont surprise me when Rossi leaves bike racing all the Rossi fans move over and become Stoner Fans

And about the Stoner fans not flying back and forth to Europe every second week ..... well apart from that being real dumb the Aussie dollar is half a euro trust me if i lived on the other side of the world i would be at all of them !!

i was on the start line grandstand and i aggree that virtually all the specs were supporting rossi gear and cheering him.

i was getting really strong scowls when i was standing up every lap cheering stoner on . especially wearing ducati gear.

got worse when vermuelen passed rossi on esses and i cheered as he came accorss the line.

totally out numbered by rossi fans

I was cheering Vermeulen when he passed Rossi aswell, the people around me weren't happy at all.

I ran onto the track for the podium (yes I know I am a mad head) and there were no boos for Stoner just louder cheers for Colin & Chris. I've got a video in poor quality if anyone wants me to prove it!!

Just kidding. I do have a vid though.

so it's nothing more than hearsay then.

again you attack rossi fans, this is becoming a bit of a habit with you

well when rossi retires is fans will have to support another rider,so whats your point ?

I was stood at the Foggy Esses. There was too much Rossi supporting going on, so on a point of principle I cheered and clapped when Vermeulen passed him, partly to piss people off and partly because I genuinely like Vermeulen, and partly because it was good for my fantasy league team
<

I'd never boo a rider though.

Apparently ticket sales for Phillip Island have skyrocketed! Come to Oz and support Casey when he'll be crowned champion. We love Vale here but I can guarantee 95% support for all the Aussie riders!!
P.s About 0.00000005% for Pedrosa!!

i dont doubt it, just look at how many aussies have joined this forum in the past couple of months

Of course not, I still like Rossi and I still have a lot of respect for him. He's still a great rider and one of the best in the world.
However it comes from not having a favourite rider that I can cheer on all of them, and I felt that Rossi was getting enough support, so I cheered on Vermeulen. Believe me, I don't hate any of the riders and wouldn't boo any of them.

It wasn't really to piss people off, more to provide some balance in the crowd.
