Whoever went will remember!

A crowd of us went last year and paid for the weekends camping.

The last time I went was back in 2000 when they were still running 500cc that was cool and the weather okish crowd was 18k back then take your car pitch your tent off you go lots of burnouts and music @ 3 in the morning.

Last year was manic, they had designated caged in carparks we had the bottom field worst luck
<
and a friend had to drop off all our camping gear at the side of the road otherwise it would have been a long slog to the campsite.

We was told this was for saftey purposes as to previous years of bonfires with gas bottles being chucked on them and bikes riding round the site at 3am ( fair enough then...

Anyways after qualifying and heavy drinking all day we trudged off over the Dunny bridge to the centre which was closed at 7pm... last time they had a band in there and we drank to 11pm...

Raceday was ok 85k turnout but once the MotoGp race had finished we raced back to the car only to find we would not move for 5 hours
<
The marshalls did not help in anyway and advised its taking so long due to the police pulling 1 in 5 bikes at the gate which was complete Bull! People got fed up and pushed a fence down in the end and we drove through the campsite..

We got home to London about 1am tired pissed off but glad we went..

Now this year we may not go for that same reason, so if anyone knows where to pitch the tent and if the organisation will be better please let me know..

Or my other alternative will be a long weekend in Amsterdam

I went dazza, and believe it or not we didnt seem to have as much trouble getting out as some people did. I read MCN a few days after and said it was complete chaos!

We only went for raceday and parked at the bottom of one field. We left in the middle of one of the support races after the GP, i thought my car had been robbed!! So many people must have left straight after the GP that it changed the way the carparks looked and we had to look thro 2fields to find it! It then "only" took us an hour to get on the A42. Not bad considerin your journey.

Def goin again this year, in that particular MCN it did say they werent going to have a repeat of the fiasco this year so, fingers crossed.

We were on the inside of Craner curves last year, but this year i think im guna go early and try and bagsee a space at Foggy's esses or the Melbourne loop.

I missed last year, but was there 2003...camped for the w/end up by Mcleans

40,000 + 3 blocks of bogs = nasty stuff

90,000 + seriously bad organisation = 6 hours to get of campsite

The joys! Some mates have been assen, where apparntley they just open all the gates and get people out as quick as poss........not use Brits, we just let everyone fend for themseleves.

To top it off, they directed us through all the bloody villages grrrrrrrrrrrrr

I remember qualifying day though, red hot, pissed as a rat and got burnt big time, yes I was a lobster!

Rekon we should meet up Sat night if anyone fancies it?

Ben.

p.s. Have a good w/end dudes!

That was a hot summer that year ben[2003],missed that one but was there last year, had a complete blast !friday to sunday camped at Mclean's you can see most of the track from there your actually on a hill looking down on the track and can see the rider's coming up the foggy esse's,went in the car only down side to staying all weekend, but you will not fit a case of X24 stella in my backpack,if you go, get a fold away chair take it everywhere with you, espiecially to watch the practice and qualifing, everynight big screen park's up where you are camped,so with your chair amble fifty yard's away with your stella and watch the season highlight's[and the toilet's about 100 yard's away
<
],and when that finish's the getto blaster's kick in,everyone dancing around their tent's,the camp fire's light up and to our left naked bloke's leaping over the said fire risking everthing they hold dear to being badly burned
<
,and by the time the fire's die down, well it's around 4am time for a few hour's kip and up for practice if your fit for around 9am rockin !
I will be going for friday dinner again,if anyone is going give us a shout ?
<

found some pic's not sure how well they will turn out ?race day was pretty cold !

I'm not sure how it works at Donnington but when I was at Laguna in 2001 it took us a couple of hours to get out on the freeways. When we came back in 2003 we stayed at a hotel and used a shuttle system. Don't get me wrong I enjoy camping at the track because there is nothing like being woken up by bikings ripping around and all the madness that ensues after dark. But if you are concerned about traffic and whatnot I would recommend looking into a hotel and the local city's transit system. I would find it hard to believe if on race weekends they did not have a shuttle that ran to the track. Just a thought, good luck to all.

Cheers for sharing your experiences guys!

Sadly a mate who I was going to go with is in the midst of losing his Job

Also was my lift, and also a toss up between this and Holland so Holland is now strong favourite..

May well try for Valencia if the funds allow or go for Le Mans next year.
