Dale Quarterly, world renowned motorcycle racer, lived in a very large New England home with an enormous basement which was attached to his equally enormous garage. Dale actually set up a little practice track in his basement and would race his Honda XR 80 pit bike from end to end making turns around the Lolly columns.
Word got out and his racer buddies started showing up with their "pit bikes", racing back and forth, sliding and drifting around the Lolly columns and having a blast.
Some time later, at a National AMA race at Pocono, a reporter was interviewing one of Dale's basement racing buddies (I want to say Mike Baldwin but I am not sure) after he won a Superbike race.
ESPN: What does it feel like to go 184 MPH at Pocono?
Racer: Pretty exciting but not as exciting as 32 MPH in Dale Quartery's basement, now that's fast!
