The 2015 MotoGP British round was in fact held by the COW promoters who won the rights to stage the British GP for 5 years from 2015 but they didn't have a circuit yet so had to pay Silverstone to let them use the track.

Planning may be there now, but the big hurdle is the finance. They are some way off raising the £315m needed to build the thing (by as much as 80% I've heard) and it's unlikely they will get the rest.

I live in the area and trust me, it won't get built.

The article says "the required financing package is in place to support the project". With plans to race the BMGP there in 2017.

I think it is close to a done deal, IF the facts in the story are true.

That's the first I've heard of it, so with all due respect it;s easy to say the finance is in place, it's a different thing when it comes to coughing up the moolah. Plus, builiding a circuit from scratch in 18 months? With the weather like it is here?

I'm happy to wager a bet with you :)

Lol.. You are definitely more in the know, so it is probably a sucker bet, but I will wager a frosty beer or so...

Reading that article sounds like nothing is in place actually, more like 'hopefully this then that.' Regardless, the next two UKGPs will not be held at "COW" which would leave then two left on their contract. The closer they get to 5 the least likely it gets done, unless Carmelo extends himself another 5 years. This whole thing is very odd.

I think the article has a very "matter of fact" feel to it.. I would not bet against it..

i hope they build it ASAP i cant bear Silverstone, i know its a really fast circuit but cant you see nowt , and its ALWAYS raining on race days!!!!

Hate to break the news to you sweetie, but that won't be any different if they raced at COW. Wales is the rain capital of the world...

Haha you beat me too it. If the weather is a deal breaker at Shiverstone, then good luck to you in Wales

yes alright, bit nearer to us in Cornwall though and might be able to see more than at Silverstone eh :)

From the sounds of you folks, it just another conspiracy to get additional wet races for Rossi to win!!

“I am passionate about the economic and social benefits that a venue such as the Circuit of Wales will bring, and firmly believe that the time is ripe for this development not only as an amazing entertainment and leisure centre, but also as an invaluable resource for the entire British motorsport and automotive industry.

Yeah, because Rockingham was a huge economic and social success wasn't it?
