I bought this cheap 2 weeks ago, it's a 1999 xl883 with only 1160 miles on the clock. It needs a good clean and polish but won't get it as I'll be using this one and semi retiring my RGV.
No one take the piss.......

btw Do you see many Harleys over there?

Yes I see all the local ones as I'm a mechanic at the local HD dealership.
It was a part ex deal that was too good to miss, I've done 450 miles in the last 3 weeks (so 10 times around the island then) and it hasn't missed a beat.

i'll have a bobber please... never one for choppers but a good ole simple bare bones, black bobber.

I have to put my hand up and say that I'll probably be buying a Sportster to keep my xt company in the near future.......

Ive ridden the 1200 but not the 883, is it worth a nosey? You see a few goin for pretty keen money.

I prefer the smaller bike as it gives a slightly broader scope for further improvements ie you can put the 1200 barrels on it with different pistons that'll give you a fatter midrange with the standard 883 heads. Plus the fact that it came along at the right price. If you want the 1200 then go for it it's the same chassis anyway. Neither of them handle or brake particularly well but they might just save your licence one day.

I dunno, I have never seen a harley I have liked, and I don't think this is gonna sway me. Actually, it's not even the bike that I don't like. I have never liked the fact that H-D riders never acknowledge non Harley riders on the road. I have never had one H-D rider nod my way ever. I know some people who hate the fact that motorcyclists nod at each other. Personally, I always acknowledge other bike riders. Can any H-D riders enlighten me as to why most Harley riders think that Harley's are the best bikes on the planet?
I have no idea why?

Get yourself a ...., and take her for a ride. It works 90% of the time. Even on a dirt bike.

Honestly I think you see what you want to see. It's just the ones you don't like that stick out.

I'll wave at the guy on the chopper to the geek on the chinese scooter, I don't care if I even get a glance back, they are doing the same thing I'am, we are all having a good time.

Just think of it this way, someday you could be stranded on the side of the road and a Harley rider might pull up and help you out. If he is a Harley rider, he is a mechanic!

A true modern biker will admit that Harleys fall well short of what a modern motorcycle should do. But that's the appeal plus the fact that because they can't physically go fast you never want to try.
