CEV Moto2

Scary stuff at the CEV moto2 today. Thankfully all riders are ok.

No idea how.

Michael Aquino is AMA racer Tommy Aquino's brother who tragically lost his life a few years back. That crash looked like something out of Mid-east. Scary.

For a moment I thought a rider had been hit. Thankfully it was a bike. Did you see what started the melee, just a tankslapper gone horribly wrong. A reminder that anything can happen on a hot track (no pun).

Could well be wrong but look like the rider that initially falls has a front end lose as he crosses the white line to the rumble strip. The front catches but to late and he is into a big tank slapper but keeps the throttle on ........... the rest is there

On another site it was thought that it is Ana Carrasco who rides through the flames but not sure if true, either way glad that this did not end up far worse and it is very reminiscent of the WSBK one (I think it was) many years ago where the Ducati fell and was then cleaned up by following riders

Correction Jums - looks like he gets on the gas a little early, rear comes out and then the rest is history

There is also this video which is from the coverage of the day and does show the medical team attending etc (as morbid as it may seem, watching the team work is quite enlightening given some actions we see from time to time)

Like the commentary in Gaz's video says, it must have been pretty grim for the riders to have to come through the aftermath on the way back to the pits.
Seeing medical teams working on a couple of riders and the carnage strewn across track must have made them fear the worst.
