Michael, i have everything Pink Floyd (and Barrett et al solo) have ever done.

I think this is my lot... as far as PF goes.

Yes, I love the syd barrett barrett pink floyd singles and have "relics" and the first syd barrett solo album. Find animals and everything after that hard to stomach though.

A very narrow view Michael. Each era had much to offer in my own opinion. I too have all their albums ,but there is only one I wished I had never bought..................................The Final Cut.............Roger Waters at his own self-indulgent worst. And every song is totally forgettable.(in my opinion)

Michael, I am staggered that you dont appreciate anything after Animals. "Comfortably Numb" etc are classics, and David Gilmour produced a lot of good stuff. I went to several concerts in the Pulse period and they remain some of my fondest memories. Ah well, each to our own.........................

Andy.........are you a masochist? If you want really depressing stuff listen to Leonard Cohen........."I lit a thin green candle"

Arab, you win. I don,t have that one . haha.

George may not have an exciting riding style, but I have really warmed to him recently. He seems a nice and genuine guy. Capable of being generous.

2013..........Go Jorge........................!

2016.........................go Arthur (Sissis)

2017............................................Go Casey. (yep, he,ll be back)

not a fan of his, but i did watch the whole thing.

It was pretty good, and you have to celebrate a career like that even if you don't like him. He is one of the fastest ever

Don't like "Animals" either, all that stuff was overwrought lyrically and written when Waters was a miserable ....... (by his own admission, I went to his "The Wall" show in Sydney earlier this year) and he and Gilmour hated each other. Gilmour has a beautiful lyrical guitar style which admittedly lifts things like "Comfortably Numb", I don't think he is all that good at writing songs though as his post Waters output demonstrates. The irony for Waters was that even if he was the main creative force post Syd in terms of songwriting, Pink Floyd's sound was mostly identified with Dave Gilmour's guitar sound and to an extent his voice, and hence the Waters-less Pink Floyd had little trouble going on without him.

Huge fan of Syd Barrett and classic Pink Floyd though, and have "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Wish You Were Here" in a profusion of formats, including gold cds, sacds and 180 gm vinyl.

The quote from Mason when they started writing the Final Cut, "Roger, didn't we just do an album about the bloody war".

My own theory on the final cut is that it was the self indulgent album the wall was supposed to be but was derailed by the band and hence the split. I love it.

Waters and Gilmour were a perfect pair, they hated each other but what they did together was magic, like Torvill and Dean.

Everyone is so down on being miserable. It's good fun, I spend most of my time feeling sorry for myself.

Andy, may I suggest early Joy Division or The Smiths for your wrist-slitting enjoyment!!!!

I find animals and its successors too blatant and the themes too overt, bordering on pretentious.

I actually found "dark side of the moon" and "wish you were here" more subtle, genuine and interesting, meditations on loss in general and the loss of syd barrett in particular, madness in the case of dark side of the moon, and even on their experience of having achieved the fame they had always sought.

(EDIT Sorry, should be doing this on a music thread).

THis forum, for all our hours of arguing everything from bikes to bipedalism and back has fantastic musical tastes.

I've even picked up a few that are now front and centre in my collection from the Listening thread.

My genuine admiration and sometimes envy will end when some hip hop gangsta .... is posted...
