Casey Stoner booed by British Boys??? What’s ur thoughts???

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Burky @ Jun 25 2007, 10:22 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>As for Casey showing signs of arrogance.....where the heck do we get that idea from? The kid is totally humble, and to me that makes a welcome change.

Exactly!

But I do have a hunch where that is coming from.

Whenever a slower rider (Elias) latches onto his back to get a quick time he gets a bit hissy about it, understandable too, but it doesn't give off a nice image with him flailing his arms around at the rider.

Stoner = 2007 Moto Gp Champ nonetheless.

C'mon Ducati double!

NO...it’s because there jealous of you Casey!!!
so you've just tarred everyone in england with the same brush, we're all a bunch of losers eh. and if that is a quote from stoner then its disappointing because he has a lot of fans and everyone i spoke to was genuinely excited that someone has stepped up to the plate and thrown down a challenge like stoner has.

.... it and .... them

EVERY country is vales home away from home. if you've ever bothered to watch closely you'll see that yellow 46 flags, t-shirts and hats dominate every circuit, but of course, cos we're english we're the ignorant ones. you wanna try looking a bit more closely next time. and of course class comments, stupid ....., .... them. nice elequent way to prove your point my irish friend

ah again another sweeping generalisation bringing in our old friend 'soccer'. for your information news1213 its only people who dont follow the sport call it soccer. its a name americans created so they dont get confused. its been called football since it began, but you have american football (which, may i ask, why is it called football whenyou throw it?). and of course what a great obsevation, we kick the .... out of everything and everybody. you are talking absolute ..... my friend. go to a football game ad see how much .... kicking you see going on. i've been watching and playing football since i was young and i've NEVER been to a game and seen any violence! <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CSCVAW @ Jun 24 2007, 09:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>My opinion is also that the fans in England think, treat every sport with the same mentality as their beloved “Football” which this sport is NOT...you have to be much more sophisticated, skillful and educated to follow motoGP!

well at least you know its proper name. but again, you talk ...... you obviously dont show any of the traits you discribe, sophistication, skill and education to be making the broad generalisations you have throughout this post about the english.

I'd just like to say that I was standing by the Foggy Esses and Goddards yesterday, and when Casey came around on his last lap, the Rossi fans and indeed all the fans showed him a lot of respect. They all applauded him, which was really good to see. I didn't hear any booing throughout the day.

People can flame me all they want and Im probably setting my self up here. But has this kind of behaviour happened in any other country in motorcycling? It happened with Kiyo, which truely made me less proud to be a brit and now its happened again. And the boo's were aimed at someone who left their home, their family and came to England to achieve their dreams and what do they get from? boo's from chavvy, yobby, drunkard, fat, sister shagging pikeys. And on the day of the late, great barry sheens last championship victory! they even had murrey walker there!

The only reason why someone would boo another rider is if they had no class, no education, no respect for the sport and how far its come in the past 10 years, no etiquette and no shame. Im not going to attack all Rossi fans because in recent weeks most have shown that they are indeed fans of the sport and not one person. But there are a few that seem to be in love with Rossi and have no regard to the fact that these riders have to race a long season, with few brakes, injuries as such. And to those type of fans I have only this to say, If you want to hurl abuse at people in a way of venting your own frustrations, GO WATCH A FOOTBALL MATCH!

In a world of sports were characters are corparately oppressesed to a degree were they cant even speak without the fear of breeching a contract ( AKA, Formula one ) In a world were players are paid so much that they become disalusioned with what there actually worth and become .... heads ( football ) and corparations have lost so much respect for the people who have to travel miles to watch their heroes play only to be ..... by ticket prices ( which are actually decreasing the spectators figures ).

There are few sports that remain pure on this planet and MotoGP is on of them, If you cant appriciate it, go away, you dont deserve it.

And people shouldn't compare MotoGP to football or Nascar. The same people who booed Casey are the same people who yell profanities at football games and for the sake of the sport they need to stay away.

P.S. I saw Valentino sitting next to Roger Federer's wife at Wimbledon looking bored as hell

i'm not going to flame you but i dont agree. like israeli racer said i didnt hear anybody at all booing casey at any part of the weekend. anyone who i spoke to around the track was only full of praise for him.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Electric Mofo @ Jun 25 2007, 03:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>From what I understand there were a few booing him at the day of champions and a few of my friends also reported the same.

i guess maybe we were lucky and were stood with the good crowd then mofo. i feel for your mates if they had to put up with any idiots but the person who started this post intimated it was the <u>British Boys</u> to which i took exception. i'm british as were no doubt the majority at the race but to imply it was us all was wrong

Yes you are correct, it could of been anyone and to imply it was brits only is unfair. But Britains problems with fans in sport doesn't help either.

we have this thing of putting our stars up on a pedestal only to knock them down. but its strange how certain sports its accepted/encouraged to heckle the players/riders whatever but some its frowned upon.

but i think if you are a sports star you know that there are always going to be people in the crowd who dont like you particularly. i've watched F1 in Italy and never experienced such a partizan crowd! if it wasnt a Ferrari going past the abuse was amazing! i even have pics of the Italians giving the finger to other drivers on the parade lap at the end. are they called ignorant? no they are called 'passionate fans'.

You have some good points but there's a differance between insults whilst a star is on track, field whatever and insulting when a person ( casey stoner ) takes time out to talk to fans on stage at a charity event.

I have never heard of this kind of behaviour in MotoGP before and there really is no excuse for it. If this was an incident that has happened in other countries then it would'nt bother me at all. But its the nature of fans particularely in England that depresses me.

oh totally in agreement. if anyone takes time out to do something like that then they should be given respect regardless of your opinions about that person.

You don't know me ......., so don't try and flame me..Yes, I call it soccer because I live in the US now, but I'm actually from Germany and grew up with football (Fussball) all my life.
My comment was supposed to be more 'tongue and cheek'.
But if you are in fact a football fan you would know this sport has it's crazy fans, like MANY other sports in the world.

Oh, and learn how to write. "generalisation" = generalization.

oh my god grow up. learn how to write?? and you have the cheek to call me .......!! try looking at this for the english version of the word:

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/generalisation

in america you spell words differently. but nice try.. .......

and yes i am a football fan, and i know there are crazy fans like in many other sports but again GENERALISATONS were being made that all football fans are hooligans.

Fair enough on the little 'Oxford English' lesson..

But you seem a little touchy on this whole football deal..

it just annoys me because so many people portray football fans, especially english ones as hooligans. english football fans havent had the hooligan issue since the late 80's to be fair. but because of the reputation we once had anytime we go abroad the police treat us like that and so do opposition fans. you only have to look at last seasons champions league to see my point.

i support man utd. we went to france to play lille. the french police herded all the united fans into one part of the stand which couldnt hold the amount we were allocated. the fans were pushed up against a 10ft metal fance (which have been banned in england since i can remember to due various tragedies that have happened because of them) and because the cops kept herding more into that area people where getting crushed. so if you are getting crushed against a fence your natural reaction would be to climb it. the riot police though oh its the english trying to storm the field so they beat anyone who climbed the fence and fired tear gas into them.

and UEFA compliled a report saying liverpool fans were the worst hooligans in europe. they had a dossier compiling all their 'problems' which included such terrible things as 'scarf waving' and 'chanting'. but of course cos its an english team its ok to call us hooligans.

its soooo much worse in soooo many other countries but as soon as the english are involved it gets reported accross europe and the world. and thats what annoys me

The Best Man well that is what the headline of that article on MCN which is a British site read ....” British MotoGP: Casey Stoner not worried by British boo"...I didn’t make IT UP & AGAIN to you The Best Man I DIDN’T imply it to all British fans!!!

I'm with the best man here. He's certainly right about football fans - i travelled to 40odd games a season for 5odd years in England. It is interesting as somebody mentioned how booing/negative chants are accepted in some sports - as said football. It's part of the game.

Sport is entertainment and besides the purity of the skill of the sportsman it is more entertaining with good and bad - controversy. This is shown here - a discussion on brits clapping casey would not have received a single reply...

...and this is where sport is so great. It can be enjoyed on many different levels.

I personally cannot think of any reason to boo casey or any other rider (except the french of course
<
). Something else comes to mind: life is not so serious - i don't really dislike the french (not possible as everyone is different and all french people aren't the same) or alonso!!
<
but there's an entertaining superficial level where you like/dislike sportsmen. The biggest example is sports entertainment in the...

...form of WWE wrestling. There, just out of interest, booing is not only accepted but encouraged. So back to the point...

Without this possible booing of Stoner the weekend would not have been as entertaining because another level was added. I was now looking and listening for the crowd. Speculating that if casey wins: will the whole atmosphere go dead with disappointment...
John Hopkins 2008 World Champion - he said it first!
