Casey Stoner booed by British Boys??? What’s ur thoughts???

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (drumfu @ Jun 23 2007, 10:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>like i said previously, feel free to disagree with the behavior and call it rude or crass or similar, but it's not "ignorant". in fact, the continued use of the term in this situation belies the ignorance of the user. ironic.

It is disrespectful and unsporting, two attitudes i feel should not be welcome in our sport. It makes no difference how much or little you know, its illogical to go to an event where you have so little respect for the competitors.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (drumfu @ Jun 23 2007, 10:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>again, the word doesn't fit the usage.

ig·no·rant /ˈɪgnərənt/
–adjective

1. lacking in knowledge or training; unlearned: an ignorant man.
2. lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject or fact: ignorant of quantum physics.
3. uninformed; unaware.
4. due to or showing lack of knowledge or training: an ignorant statement.
booing doesn't indicate ignorance, it indicates the exact opposite of ignorance because when someone jeers/heckles/boos in this case, it's because of an acute knowledge of the situation which, by definition, again, is the exact opposite of ignorance.

like i said previously, feel free to disagree with the behavior and call it rude or crass or similar, but it's not "ignorant". in fact, the continued use of the term in this situation belies the ignorance of the user. ironic.

whatever. no more english lessons from me.

i dunno, i think the word fit's perfectly. after all if they had knowledge or training they would no the effort skill and dedication motogp rider have including casey stoner,if they did they would not boo or heckle these riders, so that by definition is ignorant, also the word arrogant fits to.

Wouldn't it be nice if Road Racing was like that.
No foule play, no drugs, no bad sportsmannship, , no unsporting behaviour, no disrespect. It would be 100% unique though. All other sports I've ever heard about have them all. To welcome it or not is illogical as it's everywhere, just like in the real world. Get over it.

Appalling news, but I'm not suprised.

As for the rubbish Tom.......well if there were more bins, better facilities, more reasonably priced food and drink, more entertainment........maybe the fans would treat the venue with a little more respect.

Sorry Burky but nothing can excuse or justify littering, no matter how much you hate the British Grand prix.

As for the people booing and disrespecting riders its not that the competitors themselfes can't take it, its just that to disrespect riders like that ultimately de-values the achievements of the rider you do like. If you have no respect for someone then surely beating them is worth nothing anyway?

I'm over it

Right, two rants here.

First off, I couldn't believe I was reading that. I have always prided myself on being a racing fan, because the vast majority of us always show respect to all competitors, regardless of whether we support them or not. When I read about Kiyo being bood last year it sickened me, and same for today. This kind of thing shouldn't happen in racing. The dedication required to succeed in motorsport is, in my opinion, far higher than any other sport, and fans should respect how much effort goes into it from any racer before being so disrespectful. It's not on.

Second rant, however, is aimed at the person who started this thread. It seems that you want to blame Britain in general for the actions of a small minority. That, in my opinion, is just as ignorant as the people who did boo Casey. Are you really that oblivious to think this stuff only happens in Britain? When F1 visits Italy, look at the tifosi's behaviour towards non-Ferrari drivers. Watch a Nascar race, where the fans throw beer cans at drivers they don't like. All countries have their issues with things like this, but inevitably we get plenty of people with their noses up high who think their country is free from this

tom just because people boo does'nt mean they don't respect a rider imo. if i boo someone or something it's just a show of verbal i don't like that or u it or whatever. i think these guys can handle some booing.

^^ some good point there orrmate.
i dont think the topic starter was blaming us brits exclusively just stating the particular event they witnessed it happen or that the way i took it anyway, remember the stick mansel got when he went to indycar

[/quote]skidmark...Morons. Where'd you get that story cscvaw?

skidmark...I got it from motorcyclenews.com...”British MotoGP: Casey Stoner not worried by British boo boys by Matthew Birt, 22 June 2007 18:04” and it was also covered in some other articles too.

My opinion is also that the fans in England think, treat every sport with the same mentality as their beloved “Football” which this sport is NOT...you have to be much more sophisticated, skillful and educated to follow motoGP!

These so called fans must have been ringinns!!!

...Now, I am being ignorant....come on I didn’t say that all Brits are like that what I was trying to point out is that hooliganism, primitive behaviour has NO PLACE in motoGP and as you have pointed out and I agree with you whole heartedly...“The dedication required to succeed in motorsport is, in my opinion, far higher than any other sport, and fans should respect how much effort goes into it from any racer before being so disrespectful. We most defenately don’t want that sort of behaviour to spill into this excellent sport!!!
