rossis m1 break leavers have a hole in at the end, how long has that been there? was it in spain or did he have it at mugello?

I don't know how you even noticed that but I had no idea and I have no idea as to what the purpose of it is. My guess would be weight reduction, I really can't think of any other logical answer.

i heard a rumour it was because the force of the gravity was forcing the brake leaver in which was puting the brake on and slowing him down a touch, they said they had feedback through the computers, ive checked sum of last years races and it was there and not for the first few races this year..

when u watch the next race watch out when they do a close up of rossi, it was either the brake or clutch leaver..

I noticed that too. Makes a good point that he would do that to make the bike go that much faster. Seems to be working.

You guys are way to observant!!

Is this just on theYam?
Ben.

Obviously none of you watched Catalunya on BBC then?

On the warm up lap Steve Parrish commented on the lever because they were doing a right-hand close up of Valentino.

The hole is not for weight reduction cos those levers prob weigh Fxxx all anyway.
During testing the Yam team found that at top speeds the airflow was forcing the lever back causing the front brake to come on, so the hole is to stop that.

ron was it used at catalunya 1st then? thought id seen it at mugello but now im not to sure

Dunno 46winner... Old steve parrish made out it was at Catalunya. Surprised the other teams have'nt thought of that too.

It's possible that the other teams may not have that problem, if you were to make the lever aerodynamic I would assume the air would flow around it without putting enough pressure directly on it to engage it. My guess is that other teams have already remedied that problem. Another possibility is that Yamaha has some other purpose for it that they don't want revealed, you can never know what is true and what is not when the information is released from a team.

My thoughts exactly arryace.

Theres no conspiracy!! What else is it going to be for? Not weight reduction, how much would that save 10, 50, 100grams???

I don't know what it is for but if that information was released by Yamaha I doubt that is it's actual purpose.
