Rossi was clearly NOT the fastest in 08, but he got a title based on Stoners misfortune. Sound familiar?

well hayden has a much more discussionable career than rossi has...

I am a fanboy of MotoGP....yeah Rossi is my man atm...but so was Schwantz back in the day.....and Rainey backer in the day....and Lawson back backer in the day....and Momala back backer in the day....and so on and so forth........ I have GP .... here older than some of our members

Yes, Jaz, I understand. Thing is, you may notice (or not) but almost never do you hear a Rossi fan say something to the effect that Rossi won on "special Michelin tires" do you? So when you say you are making an "honest" post, well in part I believe you, but in part I see that the paradigm of the typical Rossi fan is so ingrained into the psyche that even an "honest" Rossi fan cannot see through the bias that others detect.

I’d say during the last two seasons this very argument has dominated 90% of all debates. Ask yourself, WHY IS THAT? Here is my answer: Because the many Rossi fans cannot accept, will not accept, that Rossi gets beat and got beat.

Funny thing is, most of us already know this is so over, but yet, here we are buddy.

I will claim logical consistency as I also said this (it being eminently reasonable to be a rossi fan) in 2007 on the basis of rossi's achievements before the 2008 season.

I think you are confusing me with someone else. I remain a stoner and a ducati fan; I was a motogp fan before stoner was born and have loved ducatis for longer than that. I hoped stoner and ducati would win last year, but rossi and yamaha were better, so credit to them. I hope for a stoner and ducati win this year, a hope which I don't think is entirely forlorn.

Supporting a rider other than rossi or a marque other than the bike he is currently riding does not necessarily indicate any disrespect for valentino, but surely is an allowable choice in those parts of the world that are somewhat free. As I argued when my guys were winning in 2007, decrying rossi in fact diminishes their achievement.

If I said rossi would finish 5th it must have been after an exceedingly large amount of red wine as I don't recall it at all, and him finishing fifth would obviously require several bikes markedly superior to the factory yamaha of the day as 4 riders simultaneously being better than him would be statistically unlikely. I do recall saying that rossi finished 3rd in 2007 because he was trying to win every race and beat casey stoner/ducati rather than dani pedrosa.
