Ha! great avi....The Monkey!!! I still remember their foul language on some 80s kids Saturday Morning show. These things were so ill conceived - who the .... was booking the bands??!! I recall PiL on 'Hold Tight' with Christopher Biggins, performing 'Seattle' to a crowd of bemused schoolkids at Alton Towers....or worse still 'Hanoi rocks' on Razmattaz. Probably all there on You Tube.

You got it!! He was dead a few months after and although Terry Chimes (Headons replacement in the Clash) took over for a while, it allowed GnR to steal their entire identity. Ever see the vid with Nasty on the zip wire???

Yeah the original was great before it got the Bob Ezrin treatment on 'Two Steps..' but Munroe's voice is painful.

First rider to bring a caravan into the paddock

Caravan, it was a massive converted truck/trailer in the paddocks at Oulton for Transatlantic Trophy weekend. I must have been about 7yrs old and the crowd around were huge, he was already world champ by then.

I wasn't a fan though, Mum and I went to seek out Ron Haslam, but he ended up seeking us out!

Wish they would resurrect Transatlantic Trophy

It was allegedly the main reason he campaigned so vociferously to get The Island taken off the calendar because it cost him so much to get it over on steam packet.

The Easter challenges, wonderful!! - I went to Oulton too, also Mallory and Doni. When Schwantz first rode at Doni it was his first time in the UK competing in the Trans-Atlantic challenge and thinking it went left rode in the wrong direction out of the pit lane!!

Aye, that stopped me getting into GnR, I just thought they had taken Hanoi Rocks and polished the sound to be more American. Was the zip wire vid for Up Around The Bend? The one where they gate crash the party? Aw man, I think I'll be digging out some Hanoi when I get hame fae tonights gig!

I was in the crowd twice during the filming for Silver Dream Racer, at Donington and Silverstone. Also saw the bike, rescued from Germany by all accounts, last year whilst at the premier for 'I, Superbiker'.

A guy has been on twitter today trying to get the Transatlantic Trophy reinstated #transatlantictrophy . Does anybody remember the banner, from the 70s, that missed out the 'L', "transatantic trophy"?

I remember that we would go to two out of the three meetings for years. Also recall Barry Sheene at Oulton Park, touring from the hairpin and ripping off his visor and throwing it towards the fans, mass rush ensued trying to get a hold of it.

That's the one. No surprise that Nasty Suicide (Jan Stenfors) qualified as a pharmacist and lectures at Helsinki University. Already had a healthy (should that be unhealthy) interest in chemicals cultivated during the 80's!

What about the picture of Sheene going like holy fck over the railway line at Imatra !

One of KRSnr as well. Sheene hated Imatra - loathed the place. The fact that it was lethally dangerous came second to the dreadful facilities. Pehaps why he and Parish blew the paddock toilet block to bits in protest.

It was actually Barry Machine who designed, built and rode the Silver Dream Machine.

He doesn't like to speak about it though, because Troy says the movie is gay.
