Excellent result - five winners now in eight races, three makes of motorcycle - just need some satellite wins like last year to really mix it up.

Haven't seen the post race interviews, but Petrucci must be very pissed with Rins.

I completely concur with Daniboy that this race was won on Friday. Valentino has looked very settled on this chassis all weekend and if a Yamaha feels like a Yamaha again to Rossi, there's generally only one outcome at Assen.

Why did Zarco feel the need to run s-s again?

Great late surge from Crutchlow.

There was a moment on the second lap entering Geert Timmer in which I thought Marquez had gone. In fact he did loose the front...but it looked intentional. Reminded me of Lawson who used to induce low sides to get into corners quicker.

....... absolute travesty if the rumours are true and Bautista is heading back to Aprilia to replace Lowes.

Wonderful to see Hartog looking so spry.

Ta man, I saw a wet race called on one of the sites I was on (some of the online commentary mentioned drying etc).

On that though, if it was dry the whole way than WTF to DP and JL ?

Were they waved at all though?

It was cold so I assume that Pedrosa and Lorenzo both had issues getting heat into their tyres. It started sprinkling(very lightly) with about 9 laps left but it didn't really rain. A few took a gamble that it was going to get heavier and changed but it completely stopped after about a lap or two. Pedrosa and Lorenzo were both struggling before it started spitting. It was dry for the huge majority of laps though, Petrucci was up there from the start.

According to Petrucci the flags weren't waved at all. He looked like he was livid as he lost time when he caught both back markers but was so close in the end. It would've been great to see Petrucci make a move and Rossi defend or try to defend it.

Great race shame about the lack of blue flags on the last 3 corners on the last lap, are the marshalls vr boppers? Seemed like it.

I want to know what petrucci has been eating for breakfast this year! Good on him :)

For those clueless with the rules - what do the blue flags indicate exactly?

It indicates to the riders at the back that they are about to be lapped and have to pull off the racing line to not disrupt the leaders.

Faster rider approaching. Deployed when a rider is about to be lapped.

Before Rain & Rins, Rossi was clearly winning the dry race. He was already 1 sec ahead of Petrucci and managing well. Then those drops of rain began to fall, he went on pushing but Petrucci was a little more effective in those conditions and in the end he was lucky that Rins slowed Petrucci down.
Petrucci was clearly pissed, and rightly so.

Zarco is excellent and I like him, but his tire choice was over-optimistic and also his evaluation of other riders' lines seems too optimistic.

Dovi looked like he could podium, but he was too cautious, possibly already calculating that he would be 1st in the championship and not wanting to take risks with Crutch and Marc, who were criss-crossing their lines like madmen all around him.

Vinales had the pace to catch the podium too, pity the crash. Good for him he came out unscathed, he fell right on the racing line.
Lorenzo and Pedrosa apparently suffered the cold track, not able to bring enough heat in their tires.

It's what now, 5 riders in 10 points? It's going to be interesting.

I don't think at this stage of the season there's been so many riders with a real shot at the title, brilliant stuff!
A great scrap for the win and a better one for third , Marquez rode brilliantly to get it, pass of the day for me.

I believe petrucci is on a stricked Rossi salad diet. The same thing uccio has been eating for years.

I guess ya' all will have to admit Dovi is a contender when you admit that the Ducati and it's engine isn't a piece of ..... Let me know when the painfully obvious becomes too painful.

Very entertaining race. VR looked really good. And that Petrucci is taking too many steroid or something. Meanwhile, why did Crutchlow wait so long, if he was that fast? The times didn't drop-off that much from the medium rears, did they?

Vale could get his eighth. Marc could get his fourth. Or Dovi or Mav could get their first. Most interesting. Honda better do something, if they want the rider's championship. MM is working awfully hard, and sliding the front a lot for a third.

Great rides and race from Rossi, Petrux, Dovi, Cal and MM....

Who says there is anything wrong with the 2017 Ducati on Michelins? Oh yeah, the spanish princess whose talent only works within a very small margin of the conditions (ie on a yamaha on bridgestones on a sunny sunday when no one else is allowed to race him)....

Michelin Accomplished.

This championship is as legit as WWF and most of us still taking stock in the results. Fascinating. Viñalez, the championship leader was eliminated by a tire Rossie gerrymandering, and we're all like, great ride by Rossi? But but, dry vote, democracy.

Any result from the moment the CEO acted as Rossi's sport agent in the closed kingdom of Dorna took out any legitimacy of future results, but let's shelf that? Why exactly? It's MotoWWF every race, where the game is: beat Rossi against every possible advantage. It's really amazing Rossi doesn’t win every race.

Look again at the coverage, look closely to the screen messages, the audio, the glamour camera shots. The entire thing is telling you one thing. And it's only become increasingly sophisticated over the last 10-15 years. Why would this race or last race be any different?

Rossi's participation in this pseudo contest is artificial. It's contrived for the consumption of those not aware or caring about how results are manufactured. This is the sport that petitioned to nullify rules in favor of Rossi to put him in the similar situation now, that a slight attrition would propel him as a title winner.

When we see Rossi being competitive, does the thought cross people's mind (the few that are aware of it) what might tires (and every tangible and intangible advantage) designed for him do to make him competitive against a field that must acquiesce? Or are we just caught up in the moment, look, it's so exciting, it's like a motorcycle foot race?

It's a ........ contest folks, because the organizers have made it a game of Rossi+advantages vs everybody. Today it cheated Petrux from going into the record books as a GP winner. Today it cheated Viñalez from retaining the points lead. Today it artificially put Rossi into the records as a race winner. It's a manipulate record.

Really?

Maybe LC lost the CL legs when they fired CR then. Seemingly related right?

Friday, eh?

Rossi win = Jumkie mental breakdown. He needs serious help, but I hope he doesn't get any because he entertains us.
