Assen GP 2012: Predictions, Practice, Qual

Did Casey bin it? Was off the timing screens for a good while.

Times are close, Rossi in 8th but only 4/10ths off. Hayden is rapid!

No he did 8 laps in fp2. Hes got the best bike on the grid, why do more?

Spies ran 10 straight 1:35s in his first run out. Looks like he has good race pace this weekend. I think he will when this as long as the weather is good. If he blows it, I think thats it for him at yami. Lots of pressure on the pie man.

Pov, 5 Honda wins, only if Jlo is runner up in all. I dont quite see it as dire as u. If CS can get his head straight, all it takes is a win and a bad day off podium from Jlo (like Casey at Catalunya) and points cut in half. Its racing still right? Anything can happen. .... after Assen we may see an entirely diff points picture. Hes still on a factory repsol hrc right?

Thats why i said, the way Lorenzo is riding, and the way the Yamaha is performing. Of course if Lorenzo has an off, that 25 points will disappear, but thats not his M.O of late. Like Michael said, having an incident free season is possible, and in Lorenzo's case, maybe probable. Is it to late for Stoner, of course not, but they are positioned to where that 25 point deficit could shoot to 50, just as easily as it could go to 0.. Plus, it doesnt seem, at least yet, that Honda can count on Pedrosa to take many points off Lorenzo. Its getting dire, especially if Lorenzo wins this weekend

FP3, with 31 minutes left.

Anyone who thinks Stoner isn't motivated is dead wrong. Those 2 laps on a drying track were amazing considering where he has been all weekend. The Honda may struggle over race distance, but to do that quali time on a bike that's not quite right is incredible.

Can the Repsol Sekonda rider turn pole into a victory?

I predict Jorge in front by lap 8 at latest.

Stoners lap was amazing given the circumstances. Raw talent, the man has in spades.

Motivated on a fast lap does a races focus in terms of championship NOT make. If you think contemplating retirement has not affected him mentally, then you are in denial, the man is human. The lap was amazing. Gives me a smile to see such a fantastic talent on a lap like that when he estimated he only had one brief opportunity to make a 9th position into a pole. He timed it to perfection. Again, not the same over a race distance when other thoughts can contaminate his confidence and desire.

Yep that was an awsome display by Casey
<
and Cal ahead of Ben again (lyn grow some)

Agree, Casey's lap was electrifying.

Esparagus balked Spies. Did you watch qual or are you gonna give us your analysis of the session like Povol based on the time sheet?
<

Grow some what? Cal has been offered a deal with Ducati (despite Ducati lying that they can't close contracts claiming the ........ Audi hasn't finalized whatever.) Cal has certainly been a revelation this year, and I would love to see him swap seats with Nicky (the guy who just out qualled the "Goat"...again).

That would be cool, or maybe Cal ends up with Spies seat. In any case Nicky on the Tech3 Yamaha would be interesting. I really don't think B. Smith is ready for MotoGP.

I know it's not what Nicky wants, but he may want to strongly consider getting over to WSBK next year and establishing himself there, with the way things are going in MotoGP I think a few other current MotoGP riders will be headed in that direction sooner rather than later.

Anyone know what WSBK offers Nicky is getting?

I don't know, but Dovi was offered factory BMW & Aprillia. So my guess is nothing good has been offered Nicky. Certainly not looking like Ducati appreciate the man. So whats left? Yamaha don't compete in Wsbk, and I doubt Honda are looking to him (but who knows). For Gods sakes please not Kawasaki or Suzuki.

I would bet Nicky's WSBK offers are BMW & Aprilla as well...but I don't understand, BMW and Aprilla have good rider line ups?
