<

went ona cruise in 2001 departing from harwich and there must of been 2000 bikers leaving for assen so looks like the bikers start from there.

<

We are flying to Amsterdam Friday (day after my birthday!) , then getting a train to assen for the race on saturday, train back to amsterdam on sat and a few days sight seeing in Amsterdam
<

Ok, do you know:

How much is camping?
How much do you pay for race day only tickets? (dont want to get ripped off!)
Is there a train station near Assen, how close approx?
How long do you think it would take to get to Assen from Amsterdam (dont want to miss the party!)
Is Friday night really mad!!
<
<

Sorry if you dont know some answers, but all te sites I have found are in Dutch & the English ones dont really answer my questions!!

I'll repay the favour if you come to Donnington!

Oh, if you fancy meeting up & having a few beers (if our going that it!) - let me know, I might be in an embarrassing state though
<
<
<
<

There are 7 of us heading out so far.......
<
Est costs for the 5 days are £185.....not bad huh

Ben I've looked things up for you, and this is what I know/found:

train: Ben, there's a trainstation IN assen!your train takes 1u 51 min to get from amsterdam to assen, you'll must change trains in Amersfoort. If you remaind me on the wednesday/thursday before TT, I can even look on ns.nl to see which railway you'll need in amersfoort, buys you time and makes your trip much more relaxed. My dad just said to me, that if you say in amsterdam at the train station to the ticketlady that you go to assen and the TT, your entry price for the TT would be taken in the price in your trainticket for less money(it's a combiticket). hope you understand this, I'm going to look this up for you this weekend so you know the prices of that ticket and don't get ripped off!
If you want a normal train ticket to assen you can get one too, that's about €36,- (return), €24,10 for a single ticket, but I think that a combiticket may be cheaper for you all. I don't know the exact price of a normal ticket(standingplace that is), last years it was around €35/€40 on race day, the TT site says that they will show the prices in february.

When you arrive in assen, there will be some busses to take you to the circuit. I don't know how late you arrive at friday, but if your hungry, you can walk out the trainstation, and you'll see a realy nice chinese restuarant on the left a cross the streets, peking palace I think it's called. you can get fairly cheap and nice chinese over there, I'll be eaten there on friday night! If you need to pin money, on the right side of the train-station there's a building from the ABN/AMRO bank...

camping: there are several campings realy close by the circuit, they are near the main road and it's just a field full of tents/german people, there called "Jan&Berta". the campings are very primitive and in the open pastures, but they do have a toilet for the ladies. they cost about €10,-p.n. I think, there not expensive. you do can get a 'normal' camping, but that's further from the circuit. don't expect to get a good night sleep, but hey, that's not why you came to the tt!
what you also can do is to take a bus/cab to the village Witten. it's very close to assen, so it can't cost you that much money. when you get there, you'll see that the whole place is just a camping, also in the pastures of a farmer (also very primitive) so you have lots of places to set up your tents!

friday nigth is as mad as you want them to be!
<
mine were lots of fun, the whole city is just bruising with energy. all the clubs, pubs and bars are open, all the people that come to the TT will be there, it's just crazy. you'll see bands, people bungeejumping, dancing, drinking etc. just one big party
<
in the city there's also a big fair (<-don't know the english word, looked it up) with lots of attractions like rollercoasters etc.

now just one tip from myself:prepare yourself for rain!!!9 out of 10 times it rains in holland, just like in england. bring plastic to put above your head
do wave at the 2 people nearby the road on the right side
<
there mentally disabled and you make their days!you just can't miss them..

if you have anything else to ask, or you don't understand something I wrote overhere, you can ask ben
<
if I remind something you realy need to know, I'll let you know

entry prices TT assen on saturday:

Standplaces for adults: €40,- they’ve sold over 85% of these tickets, so maybe you should order them..
Stekkenwaltribune:€50,-
Bulttribune: €50,-
Haarbochttribune: €50,-
TT-worldtribune: €60,-
Strubbentribune:€60,-

I've misunderstood the figures on the site ben!they've sold 15% of the standingtickets, not 85.. so no need to order them in avance
<

Thanks Marijke!

I think most of the lads want to get a hotel or a b&b now, because we are staying in a hotel when in Amsterdam, and they cant be bothered lugging camping stuff around with them!

It looks like there will only be 4/5 of us at Assen, as some of my mates are meeting in amsterdam.

Should be a great trip! woo

thanx for all the info marijke... its definately been a big help
<

are you going this year then and if so are you meeting me and ben at the track??

I found a website with some hotels in assen, it's a page on the tt-assen.nl site, but I can't give you the link, cause it only gives the www.tt-assen.nl link. so I've print-screend it for you and made it as an attachment in this reply
<
the websites under the adresses are all in dutch, I can help if you need help with them. the distance between the track and the hotel are also given on the right in the green

but I think you're probably to late to book a room in a hotel/bed and breakfast. I've heard stories and rumours about hotels being fully booked 10 months before the race. but who know's, maybe you all are lucky
<

yes I'm going with my dad and some old friends of him this year. my sisters are only comming on saterday, so it's likely my TTnight won't be a huge party like the years before
<
we haven't talked about meeting at the track yet, I actually don't know where you all will be sitting on race day, have you ordered your tickets yet??

thanx for the info.. again!! you've been a star with hotels, race info and the like
<

we havent yet booked our tickets no so i wouldnt have the 1st idea where we'll be on the day but i'm sure ben will be taking his MotoGP.forum flag again so just look out for that.

i've been to Holland twice.. once i had a nightmare sorting hotels and the other was no problem. i'm just glad you guys speak excellent english otherwise i'd have been screwed

I did Assen in 2004, the train station is right around the corner from the track, we stayed in the Dam the whole time, the train journey is fairly painless, actually I'm off to Amsterdam on Sunday for a few days. Yesshhh!
