Aragon - The Race Thread - Spoilers

One thing is for sure, Yamaha will not let Spies factor into the final rankings. With the reported bad blood between him and someone at Yamaha, they will not risk him having one of those one off performances where he is actually faster than Lorenzo. His bike will stay detuned to, or below that of the Tech 3 bikes just in case..

Good point!

But it makes no difference, anyway. If Jorge was to start from the pitlane after needing a new engine (Ha, keep dreaming!), with so little competitive bikes on the grid he would still finnish 2nd or 3rd no problem.

Ask dani pedrosa how easy it is to make your way through the field from the back of the grid even on a really fast bike. I suspect jorge would do it smarter, but even he can't control the quality of the riding of the back of the field guys.

IF Spies had the talent to out perform Jorge then I could see Yamaha detuning his bike.....

....but since Spies is not as talented, fast, consistent or good as JLo, well it really cant be too much of a worry for Yamaha for them to detune his bike...

I didn't know there was still a test left before the end of the season. Interesting. Is that an official test (or whatever it's called) or a private test as the latest Aragon one?

Spies indicated earlier in the season he would try to help Lorenzo win it since it became clear he was out of the title race. But Dovi? No.

He must be pretty angry with Yamaha after they picked Rossi over him for next year.

Disagree, you are held for 10 seconds after the green light, then must maintain pit lane speed {60kph} until exiting pit lane. Then you must fight your way past the CRT's once you catch them, costing precious time. Then you catch the Ducati's, and they take a little more time to dispatch. Then you catch the so so customer bikes, which will take even longer to dispatch. At that point, you are 15-20 seconds behind the the front runners. I would be very very surprised if Lorenzo caught and passed the Tech 3 machines. Im guessing without someone in front of him crashing, 6th would be about as good as he would fiinsh.

What's even scarier is that he makes Mrs. Jumkie wear it!

There's a Mrs. Jumkie???

OK, I take back any thoughts I had that he might have a Hayden poster on the ceiling of the bedroom

You do realize that on a few occasions, Spies has in fact beaten Lorenzo straight up, hence the quote "they will not risk him having one of those one off performances where he is actually faster than Lorenzo.

To be serious, I find it difficult to enjoy any bike or car race, or any sport for that matter, while uncertain if a participant has been seriously injured.

It was a light-hearted comment - hence the smilie...

I know how you feel - my heart was in my mouth when I saw the fence he was approaching had no air-fence... then his parallel-bars style dismount had my wife running to see what I had shouted about - she thought I'd been bitten by something

The one off performances are luck, not skill or talent....

And team directions would ensure there are no one offs for rest of season, so they dont need to 'detune' the bike...

And what team directions would that be ?

Duh! I completely forgot about the 10 seconds deal. That would change the situation, no doubt. I agree with your assessment, he would struggle to even catch the Tech 3 guys. Lucky for him, he won't have to worry about that because the gods are making sure his current engine will last the season.

Well, in Dani's case, if not the win he would certainly take second at that race. I forgot about the 10 sec. wait in pitlane for engine penalty though.

But I see your point. There's a greater risk of being wiped out as Pedrosa found out.

PS: What did he (Dani) do wrong at Misano? I re-watched the incident about 10 times and I couldn't fault him for anything in that outcome. He did everything right until Barbera goes for a gap that was not there and hit him.

If he has a grudge against someone at Yamaha, you think team orders mean anything to him.

Very true....but i really doubt he is that 'independent' or 'strong headed' enough to screw JLo or Yamaha....

And like i said, he has more luck than talent, so the risk of beating JLo is really slim....

Re-watch a few more times. But this time open your eyes.

He lunged ahead of Hector, disrupting his line, ran wide, over-corrected, physicals dictating it slowed him down, just enough for Hector to have nowhere to go. Dani's screw up on desperation. If you think, like many lames, that the poof for blame is in getting hit for behind, then you should read Dan's take on fault when he ran into the back of Simoncelli. If he doesn't win the title, it will be squarely his own fault.

Somebody hasn't been paying attention this year.

no...no...Jum's Spies has plenty of luck.....bad luck that is. So if Nicky Hayden is the luckiest man alive, Ben Spies must be the unluckiest(is that a word?) anyway most of the guys racing in MotoGP are lucky, that's the only reason they're there!

And thats what Yamaha has, is doubt. The only way for them to know for sure what Spies may or may not do, is to control what he may or may not do.

Well, I suppose that if Ben was serious in his press release we will find out at the end of the season.
