Team SUZUKI MotoGP at full strength for Brno

Team SUZUKI MotoGP will field a three-man team for the first time this season with Kenny Roberts Jr and the fully recovered John Hopkins being joined by Nobuatsu Aoki at this weekend’s Gauloises Grand Prix Ceske Republiky.

Hopkins is now back to full fitness following an operation to plate his broken left foot that he received at the last MotoGP in Sachsenring. The hard-charging Anglo-American enjoys racing at the 5,403m Brno circuit. He showed that his riding style and the Suzuki GSV-R are suited to the twisty and flowing track by setting the fastest times in the only two dry free practice sessions at last year’s event.

Aoki is the Team SUZUKI MotoGP test rider and has been racing in Grand Prix’s since 1990. Suzuki has entered the talented Japanese racer to assist with the on-going development of the GSV-R throughout a race weekend. He will then continue his Bridgestone testing programme with two further days at Brno after the race.

Sunday’s race is round 11 on the MotoGP calendar and all three Suzuki riders will be lining up for the start of the race at 14.00CET.

Paul Denning – Team Manager:

“It’s great to be getting back into action again after the mid-season break, although it couldn’t have come at a better time for us as it enabled John to make a complete recovery from the injuries he received from his two crashes in Germany. He is now back to full fitness and I’m sure he will be going all out at Brno to get the results that his performances this year have deserved.

“We are looking forward to Suzuki running a three-man team this weekend and I know that Nobu will work hard as always. Race weekend experience and information is generally more relevant than pure testing and we hope that Nobu can show a good pace.

“All three riders will continue with further testing of the GSV-R next week as we make further steps forward with the bike and learn the clear direction needed to take a leap forward in competitiveness in 2006.

I hope it ends better than Kawasaki's 3 man team in the last race, where OJ crashed into Hoffman in the first corner, leaving Nakano as the only Kawa rider after lap 1.

This could be the place we see Hopper really shine through despite the lackluster GSV-R. Brno is Hopkins' favorite track and he was fastest in the only two dry sessions in 2004 only to qualify 19th in the wet. When the dry track came on race day he climbed from 19th to 8th... only for his GSV-R to suffer a mechanical failure. Look for big things from Hopper this weekend.

Should be interesting...I will pick Hopper for top 5..

Thanx for sharing General

i hate to tell you guy's this but let's be realistic. brno is a fast flowing track. a power track. something the gsvr lump lacks. i wish hopper could get a top five finish, but it's unlikely. unless there are some dnf's at the front. top 10 more probable.

He may be down on horsepower but he is a man on a mission and Brno is his favorite track, I think he is going to have a BIG weekend.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but it doesn't matter how hard Hopper tries or how many HP has the Suzi engine as long as they're on Bridgestones.

Although if you wanna be optimistic maybe Bstone has done something useful during the summer break and has some new ultra sticky rubber.
