Over, repeat podium for third time. Marc looked like he did the bare minimum to win, managing the gap and not going over limit, he took the race as a warmup for tomorrow it seems. Pecco again looking out of sync and unable to match the speed of the Cervera brothers. Zarco with a great 4th, and I wonder if he could've battled for the podium if not for his bad start. Mir tasting some points. Acosta and Quartararo going from more to less.

TV coverage took too long to focus on the where the battles are happening
Every damn week. They're showing the leader circulate by himself while ignoring battles for position, even inside the Top 10.
Nice to see Mir getting some coverage for the first time since 2021
They showed him picking up his bike in the gravel like 50 times last year.

Marc looks completely at home on the Ducati and he's not even pushing that bike to the limit. Never thought I would see him carve up the track with super smooth lines instead of getting away from the days of brute forcing the Honda. I would also say he is keeping a lot of reserve time in his pocket. He waited till the end of the sprint to start pulling away rather than chew up tire for no real reason. He'll probably run the same sort of race tomorrow. But is the weather still looking questionable for Sunday?

Good showing from the Honda finally. Zarco probably should be next to Mir in my opinion. Either way they are definitely making progress. I wonder if Yamaha has pretty much gone all-in on the V4 and are just trying to get that package ready as quickly as possible.

The KTM can't keep up anymore. Pedro rode well but hard to get anywhere or hold position when your bike missed what, 6 months worth of development? Also this is definitely Mav's last ride. He can't ride this bike at all and it's not going to get any better. Enea was flattered by the Ducati. Too bad he missed out on the Aprilia ride. Going to be interesting to see where the Aprilia slots in once Martin gets back.

I believe this is the beginning of the end for Pecco Bagnaia. 4 seconds down to your teammate is just horrific even if it was a P3 finish.

There's of course the saying that when the cat's away, the mice will play. Looks like the cat is back....in ant form this time.

The KTM can't keep up anymore
I read the bike chews tires with insatiable hunger. It's one thing to not keep up in full races, but in sprints it's worrying.

Bagnaia has been crap in Argentina so far. The results might be underwhelming compared to the Márquez brothers but Pecco has never been good here.

And it was just a sprint... and Marc just cruising, managing the gap. This is probably going to repeat at COTA, and by then, his confidence will be shot IMO. It'll be really interesting to see what happens at Qatar, where he'll have no excuses. But by then, MM will probably be cemented as the #1 in everybody's eyes (if he's not already), including the team's IMO. I think being the clear #1 in the garage was very important for Pecco on his previous comebacks, and he doesn't have that anymore. And I don't think he can be as aggressive as Marc, so it's hard to see how he can beat him enough times to win another championship (barring disaster). And unfortunately for Pecco, his #1 job for now is to beat the little Marquez first, who is riding better than him so far... on a lesser bike. Ouch!

Easy win for Marc. He still looks like he's figuring the bike out. He asks for a bit more lateral acceleration, the bike kicks him a few cm out of the seat. He relaxes for a few laps, then pushes the gap again. It will be crazy to think what happens when the bike is dialed.

The tire situation will change naturally. The sun will change its angle of attack, tracks will warm, we'll see what happens with Marc's setup, but he's looking really good.

Acosta seems desperate and frustrated already. Many riders at the back probably wish they had tried WSBK. What happened with Ogura? Haven't paid close attention to him this weekend.

Yeah, just noticed he finished 15. Disappointing. He's still learning, so hopefully he'll do better tomorrow.

When will we see a non-Ducati on the podium? Honda has clearly improved, appears to be up with KTM and Aprilia. Yamaha gets the wooden spoon but still did 10th, 11th, 12th

The start of 2025 season is showing the real value of Ducati GP24... And of Pecco Bagnaia.
He won his first MotoGP title with blatant help from Ducati fellow riders on a superlative GP22, the second with a revised GP23 not available to other competitors, he lost the last in a two bikes championship (2 out of the potentially championship winning bikes were out of contest because of never fast (Bastianini) and a severely preseason injuried (Morbidelli) contenders).

Pecco is the weakest two-time champion in MotoGP history.
He was fully empowered by riding the best bike on the grid, and not by technical ability. Sure, he's a good guy, a good rider. But he's not an extraordinary talent.

He had the peace of mind of working with the support of Valentino Rossi at his base, and of being born in the same country as Ducati. He didn't demonstrate anything that would make him a Factory rider. Not even victories in satellite teams (like Enea had before being hired, for example).

And his track record in titles is poor, considering that he had BY FAR the best bike with opponents with inferior equipment:

2021 - Lost to Quartararo (2 rounds to go) with a Yamaha already sinking and Ducati having been the best bike on the grid for years.
2022 - Beat Quartararo in the last stage. With an even bigger equipment gap than last year.
2023 - Beat Martin in the last round. Having been a factory rider for 3 years versus a satellite team (which we know is slightly inferior).
2024 - Another battle in the last round against a satellite team, this time he lost. Martin showing a much more iconic and aggressive riding style.

Again: Pecco is a good rider. But not an extra class.
In the current season, I would put him behind MM, Acosta, Fabio and Martin. These, with equal equipment conditions, would easily beat the Italian.

Ogura said earlier on that he is less confident at this track, and that he's getting something much closer to the standard roockie experience.

I too expect him to be better tomorrow. But, I'll be very impressed if he sneaks into the top 10. I'm not expecting anything more than that.
