2024 silly season!

He's probably getting a hefty paycheck rise. Uccio and Rossi won't mind seeing lil bro getting paid. Better option for Honda than DiGia but also he's failed to impress on the Duc. At least he isn't a serial crasher, Honda's repair crew must be relieved.

Marini has no chance of getting to factory Ducati, in front of him is Martin, Bezzecchi and M Marquez so Honda is probably his only chance of getting a factory ride

Marini is a very, very smart guy. He's more an engineer than a rider. I think he's a good name for HRC to develop the bike. Nobody is going to Honda thinking of winning next year.

Neither was Mir before riding the Honda...

I keep seeing people saying he’s a smart guy, I’m not saying he isn’t but taking the Honda gig might make me ask the question. 🫣 I just wonder how he had the time to get educated to a high level given that he came into moto 3 at 16 years old?

Well, days still have 24 hours. :p you can't pass the whole day riding a bike or eating or sleeping, unless you are Keshav. There must be some time remaining so you can read some books and educate yourself on the matter.

Honda is also doing a smart move here. I think Marini is the best name "possible". As for Marini, Honda is a giant, we won't need to wait for too long to see they fighting at the front again. Maybe already on the second half of next year season

I can see why Marini would make the move. He will not even get close to a factory Ducati seat, so he might as well get paid. And if he is as good at bike setup as many say, then it might be a promising project. Anything is possible…

Set up is not the issue with the bike. The bike is dog ..... I do agree though that this isn't a bad move for Marini. If he can hang in for the long term maybe the bike will get better and he can have some success.

Trading the prestige of being on a factory team and money vs winning...not sure if it's the right move for a young rider, but at least he will make his brother happy.

There's been a number of riders who rejected the HRC seat unless they got a 2 year contract and it makes sense as the bike isn't going to be that good in 2024, so they don't want to be a seat filler while they get their act together for 2025

Speculation that Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicalli won't be happy with Pramac Ducati having the #1 plate next year, due to commercial concerns. Dall’Igna has said in the past he doesn't mind which Ducati rider wins the world championship and that seems to be backed up in this article.
I don't see them getting around to putting a Spanish rider on one of their factory bikes. They'd rather slow Jorge's bike down a bit.
Luca Marini is willing to go to HRC if they give him a 2 year contract. VR46 is open minded about letting him go if this is the case. So does this means big brother ends up being the test rider and then gets his title-winning NSR500 and RC211V bikes???
I think Diggia would be the best choice for Repsol. Aldeguer is a great talent but going to Repsol at this stage seems like a great way to ruin his career.
Marini just never struck me as a great rider. Almost always amongst the Top 10 but he's completely lacking the moments of greatness his teammate has shown.

He can still be good at giving feedback about the bike even if he doesn't have a PhD in engineering.

Diggia brings 2 years MotoGP experience to HRC if he goes, Marini 3 years. Probably either of them would be better for HRC than a Moto2 rider as they could provide better feedback on how the bike needs to be developed

So, by the time the Honda is competitive again, it will be time to switch up the formula again...

I don't know why they bother.

Havent watched much moto2. Have the last 2 though. Fermin Aldeguer has well and truly ridden away from the field in each of those 2 races.
The next sensation in Acosta had absolutely nothing for him.
Yeah he might have no experience. Mir does.
He seems to have potential though as he was well faster than the entire field. Dominant in fact.

Seems like Marini won't have problems showing the Monster logo on his helmet; with Marc departing from Repsol Honda, so does Red Bull.

I suppose there's a risk Honda could also lose the Repsol sponsorship after their current deal expires at the end of 2024, it's not looking good for them. It would be ironic if they end up striking a partnership with VR46.
