Why don't they get it over with and put some 737 wings on it??
Some of the teams have been doing secret aero tests here in Canada this winter, will be interesting to see if some of the experiments find their way to the grid !

Aleix with a new colorful helmet. Here we can appreciate how much aero madness is there on the bike:

Looks like Australian radiator on that bike

Surprised to see that logo on there.

Surprised to see that logo on there.ive seen PWR on a few bikes. Honda comes to mind. Also OZ racing wheels are prevalent across the field.

Thanks for posting MB. I was away over the weekend so didn;t get to post pics.

The rear diffuser interests me. Where is is getting it's airflow from? A rear diffuser on an F1 car is fed by the entire front of the car (i.e. a large surface area) but on the Aprilia, I'm guessing these are the 'ducts'

I'm not an aero engineer, but it doesn't seem like it will do much to me.

Qatar test is here!

Not many updates at the moment as most riders have gone out on track, but are 2-3 seconds off the pace until nearer the evening and race time.

Looks like Honda have seemed to settle on a combination of their Valencia and Sepang test aero package, as apparently all 4 RCV's have this fairing now.

How gorgeous is that livery?!

Maverick's Aprilia has a modified diffuser, so apparently he is not liking the full diffuser.

Honda have done away with the Kalex swingarm, all their bikes have the HRC version now:

Interestingly, Bastianinis Ducati has a lot of 2023 parts on it. The lower exhaust is the 2023 version but the top exhaust is actually the 2024 version. Elsewhere though, it also has the 2023 dino wings on it for now.

The fairings are also the 2023 ones. It appears both riders are getting up to speed with the 2023 parts before they bolt on the new items. I assume to redice the chance of crash damage.

Finally, Yamaha appears to have put all the 2024 parts of Crutchlows bike:

Manufacturer wise the day 1 results aren't far off where many would expect the season will be. Rider wise is harder to estimate however its still looking like a Pecco vs Martin season but if it was that predictable there would be no reason to watch

Day 2, and a red flag out early. Apparently Marc Marquez has stopped at T15

*Edit* Marc stopped before the red flag but got going again. The red flag was due to a technical issue with Joan Mir at T1.

While we are waiting for today to develop here are some reports from yesterday:

Francesco Bagnaia admits “doubts” as ‘24 Ducati takes shape

Interestingly, he confirms the bike is a step forward but commented that the GP24 is different under braking.
“It’s quite stable. But, when you attempt it with brakes, it’s a bit worse,” he said.
“It was important for me to understand the gearbox because I did the whole day without a slipstream."

Quartararo: Yamaha MotoGP bike's "horrible" grip "unacceptable"

Mir feels Honda is “getting closer” with every run in MotoGP testing

Luca Marini: “Honda listen, a lot, to my feedback… but it’s not enough”

Jorge Martin: Not just me vs Pecco, “Aleix doing a great job, Enea will arrive”

Yamaha were busy testing lots of parts, firstly a new exhaust:

A change from the single rear wing to Dino wings

Apparently all the Honda riders after Sepang, requested more downforce. So, the front wings that arrived at Qatar were slightly bigger.

This is the Sepang wing for comparison

Finally, their rear wing now seems to be a combination of the Valencia and Sepang units (Flat rear wing at Valencia, Dino wings at Sepang).

Taka said it helped keep the rear wheel planted during braking more than any other solution they have had.

Jorge said in Sepang that the '24 bike had improved in braking, so I think Pecco is playing mindgames and downplaying how dominant the bike has been in testing so far.

Times right now:

Marc has already improved his time of yesterday, which wasn't too impressive. Pecco remained on the top spot until recently. Raul Fernandez has been consistently fast.

Okay, probably a dumb question but I'm gonna ask anyway. What's with the tires I've seen mounted on some of the bikes, as the Yamaha in one of the pics above? They are not slicks and not wets. They look like street tires. What's up with that?

The pics are probably from the first minutes after the garages open before being fitted the slicks
