2024 Season Possible Grudge Match, Marquez vs. Bezzecchi?

Marco closed last season off flapping his gums about Marc for no good reason other than it appears he has drunk the Valentino-flavored Kool Aid regarding the 2015 season.

We know Marc will never say anything in the media about it directly, or at most he might make some sort of allusion that requires divining out the meaning.

We do know that what Valentino learned the hard way was challenging Marc in the media resulted in on-track games that don't end well.

Marco doesn't seem to have learned anything from what actually happened in 2015. So I'm thinking the odds are if Marc gets the opportunity he's going to .... with him. Whether it's in quallfying or in a race, who knows where it will happen. I for one am looking forward to seeing what Marc does to him and if Marco shuts up for good.

I'd rather just watch him ride away from him.
Not really wanting a repeat of the 2015 .....
I agree Marco needs to choose a smarter and less toxic brand of cool aid and shutup.

Marco the guy who chose to stay with vr46 over a better ride? He will never learn. He is Val's pawn. Marco's nose is so far up Rossi's ... it has turned highlighter yellow. The last thing Bezbitchi wants to do if he plans on fighting for a title is piss of Marc. Marc will make his season hell.

I think we touched on this in the Valencia race thread. There were rumours that Bezzechi said something along the lines of it's a shame he came back after his 2020 injury which he has since denied. However, I can't say I put it past him thanks to his suckup of VR46 and IF he did, then he is scum of the earth imo.

I agree with Warthog. Marquez will consider Bezzechi small fry and not waste time with him unless they are consistently at the front together. I'll second what Mdub said too in that he's chosen his path to be a pawn and I hope he never gets a factory Ducati ride. I personally think he burnt his bridges after turning down the Pramac ride. There is going to be a lot of competitive riders available for 2025.

I presume his plan is to be on a factory level Yamaha when VR46 returns there after they fix the Yamaha. Waiting for Yamaha to fix their bike if a factory Ducati was on offer from Pramac was perhaps not the wisest decision particularly given he himself is not 21 any more. I can understand staying with VR46 if both rides were a 2023 bike, but sure otherwise he had chosen Valentino over Ducati.

History shows that most world champions are racing for factory teams. Perhaps Bezzechi didn't see himself getting to the factory Ducati team so has some other plan for getting to a factory team?

Sure. The question is whether he was in the Ducati pipeline having been offered the Pramac ride. He is 25 odd years old and may have thought time was against him in terms of eventually graduating to the Ducati factory team, particularly since he would have to leapfrog Martin to even replace Bastianini, let alone if MM figures in the future of Ducati after the coming season.. If VR46 are to become a Yamaha team as many suspect he may consider that his prospects are better with Yamaha..

We can only guess, the Pramac ride may of just been perceived as a replacement of Zarco as a development workhorse.

Yamaha crossed my mind too. If Marini does well at Repsol Honda, there's the possibility that they might want another Ducati rider to replace Mir though Martin might be willing to head to Honda too.

He has knocked back a GP24 ride with Pramac, both their bikes are current factory spec.
Bezzsuckie is already crying enough for daddy Claudio Domenicali Ducati CEO to issue warning to Marc

"Marc Marquez has been firmly told by the Ducati CEO that they wish for “races without accidents” this season"

Ducati tell Marquez: “We hope for races without accidents, I don’t like contact”
Domenicali is an ....., Gigi is the man at Ducati.

Can he really tell riders for satellite teams who don’t even have this year’s bike what to do anyway ?.

Well, common sense and history is not on Bezz’s side.
Yes, Bezzecchi is assuming he will be close enough to MM on the same bike for contretemps to occur.

MM is saying all the right things, that he has proven nothing and has everything to prove on a Ducati, but is also saying simultaneously that he didn’t push/explore the limits of the bike at all in the Valencia post season test, in regard to which I am inclined to say “and so it begins”.

If MM is past it he is past it, but if not I have a strange feeling complaining to the press, the Ducati CEO, or anyone else will not be a very effective tactic against him.

That's what we are discussing, speculation as to why Bezzecchi turned down Pramac ride.

Could it be something as simple as Bez thinking perhaps the grass wasn't necessarily greener, all things considered? From our outside perspective it seems foolish not to jump on the Pramac but maybe behind the scenes things are different?

I think Mdub's assessment is probably close to the mark.

Vale I think is using Bezztwat like a pawn. I have little doubt VR46 is going to go to Yamaha. It's a similar situation to when a rider choses a ...... factory bike over a better satellite bike. Moving up the pecking order and being the #2 team at yamaha trumps being the bottom team for ducati. Especially from a team owners point of view. Vale can use Bezz as a pawn to attempt to get a factory bike with yamaha. I am sure Valenbullshit promised Bezz a happy ending if he stays. But we all know the only happy ending Vale cares about is his own. Bezz will regret this.

Yes. Btw it would seem he is bored with the riding academy, which was for profit, and it has recently been announced he is branching into rider management. I guess he has at least waited until retirement to pursue this, unlike LeBron James with the NBA.

We could use the Yamaha speculation to turn it into a kinda conspiracy theory. Yamaha decided to ditch Morbidelli so if Bezzecchi had gone to Pramac then Morbidelli would of going to VR46 which would mean that Yamaha hadn't got rid of Morbidelli if VR46 went to Yamaha

Is there any new riders coming through the academy? If nothing else the academy has been very successful in getting young Italian talent onto good rides. Whether those riders would have ended up in a similar position is up for debate. I know nothing about the academy but if the riders/their parents had to pay for their positions in the academy then I would assume the guys with money could have ended up in a similar position.
I would've thought if you are a team owner with a brand the size of Rossi's that an academy, not just open to Italians would be a great way of making sure you can get top talent onto your bikes.
