2018 Motul TT Assen

And then there is the blame the other guy for...... https://www.motorsport.com/motogp/news/not-clever-dovizioso-assen-podium-rossi-1054409/?s=1

But Dovi seems to echo Marc's

Some things never change. It racing, not ballroom dancing!! Maybe ask Petrucci to be there next time, so he can move over for you.
The good news is that Rossi fans now have an Italian to boo, along with Marquez and Lorenzo. The bad news is that they will still boo Marc, because they can't see passed their ignorant and sore loser noses.
Rossi is -
"Blinded by (his own yellow) light
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night"

Didn’t have such a problem with this one, something of a whine but he did ride well enough for second, and was understandably disappointed; no character assassination or conspiracy theories.

Rossi tried to stay on Dovi's outside, but Dovi ran a little wide. Rossi should know that that's the risk he runs when he stays on the outside...He lost a podium for no reason.

With that being said, Dovi could've taken a little less risk in making that pass because, in running wide, he let Rins and Mav by.

Whilst it's cool that there are so many incidents up for discussion from the race and I am sure that fans of riders who came off the worse, understandably, won't be happy. I (personally) don't have an issue with any of the incidents from Assen.
I am just really glad that the Vale/Horhay coming together (nobody's fault) wasn't any worse, that could've been awful.

Lorenzo did a great job of staying on the bike. Already watched the race twice and how fast Rossi closed up on Lorenzo was frightening. Actually both of them could have gone down which might have been horrific with the oncoming train of bikes behind them as I don't know if something could have been avoided at those speeds in that section of the circuit.

Good yellow god. You are excusing Rossi's ......... When Stoner complained about Rossi's aggressive riding, every damn Rossi fan called Stoner a .....-jerk-.......-Ad nauseam. And Rossi laughed at him, saying "that is racing".

I was actually on Rossi's side when Lorenzo complained about his riding in that great Catalunya race. Lorenzo was another one that USE to complain about the stuff that he also did to others. Valentino has been a hypocritical ..... for years, now. He has become as bad as Crutchlow with excuses and blaming everyone, but himself. If Dovi or Marc behaved the same way, people would call them prima donnas and shut them down. Rossi will never get a pass in my book, because I am actually fair and unbiased with EVERY-darn-THING. Something that seems hard to grasp around this joint.

But tell us how you really feel...

Rossi’s raced Dovi enough to know how aggressively he brakes and that he doesn’t back down. No reason why he should have been surprised. Done it himself plenty times. Just on the wrong side of the racing line today.

To be fair to Rossi, he did not complain about Dovi's move as such. He said that in the particular circumstances, the move "wasn't smart" because it slowed both of them down and allowed Rins and Vinales to pass them and go on the podium in their place.

In other words he says that Dovi wasn't very smart because he preferred to be 4th in front of him, rather than 3rd behind him.

But to be completely fair, Rossi himself could have been even smarter, and avoid engaging Dovi in the first place, rather settling for 3rd behind him. Rossi surely knows that Dovi always fights for position, especially at the last lap.

In the end, one could say that Rossi was 5th behind Dovi because he did not settle for 3rd behind Dovi.

As I have said, this imo was a somewhat hypocritical minor whine by a disappointed rider and no big deal, with no attempt to demonise Dovi in my view, although some of his disciples may still take up the cudgels. He obviously hadn’t watched video footage of Dovi’s race wins in this and the previous season, several of which have involved similar incidents in the last corner of races involving Dovi and Marc Marquez, who is quite probably the most aggressive rider in gp bike racing history. Given Dovi has formed something of a habit of not backing down to MM, Valentino should hardly be surprised that he won’t concede a corner to him.

That’s the point, Rossi insinuated Dovi ...... up and didn’t think. In his mind Dovi should have settled for third . One more thing, when Dovi ran wide, he only lost one position to Vinales, Rins didn’t pass him till 3 corners later when he ran wide again. Up to that point he had not lost a podium spot.

So, Cal said that when the Honda is in a pack it goes to rats because the disrupted airflow causes the front tire to overheat and acceleration goes down the pan. Has anyone else heard of this, other than on a generic level, I mean in a very specific detrimental way just to the Honda? Cal quoted Marc's warm up times compared to the race as evidence, but I think they were more to do with Marc going for softer rubber come race time and being short on faith for their longevity.

On a different note, after Rins' interview, I couldn't help but think that if he grew a massive mustache, he would look a bit like Borat.

Had to avoid the news and this place until now. I was away at a training course the last 5 days with no time or access to the race. (I'm an MSF instructor, I teach people to ride motorcycles). Watched the race last night, very exciting race! I was happy for MM, regardless of his bullish style, I believe he is one of the most talented racers out there, the man never gives up. Lorenzo looked like early season Lorenzo again. Rossi...man I wanted this one for him.

Hi Mate, welcome back. Yeah, I am like that too, when you have missed a race and you have to be a media hermit. I really did think it would be Vale's weekend too. I hold my hands up though, I honestly didn't predict a podium for Vinales or Rins.

Congrats, mate.
I have to say though, every time you mention the range, I automatically think of a shooting range.

On the subject of the race, I was blown away by Horhay's start, it was one of the best in the big class that I can remember.
