You just gave yourself the answer. If Rossi knew Dovi’s tires were ......, he should have known the only place Dovi had the advantage was on that straight. He ...... up and should have backed off and got him again in the same spot he had made 10 passes and not let the only advantage Dovi had left come into play. Dovi knew this and it was his only chance left to make the move.

And the only way Dovi could finish ahead of Rossi was to immediately re-pass him. Again, if Dovi was remiss in contesting the corner so close to the end of the race why didn't Rossi concede that corner at Argentina with many laps to go against MM who was so much faster instead of crashing then calling MM a dangerous rider?.

Which is virtually impossible because the start finish line is close to the last chicane. Had Rossi let him go, he could have passed him again in the same spot and Dovi wouldn’t have had the space to overtake Rossi. If you lead out of that chicane you are going to hit the line first.

Rossi whining because Dovi overtook him in an "unintelligent" (quoting the exact word he used on Italian TV) way, is a perfect example of why I never was and never will be a Rossi fan.

And Dovi whining just because that’s what he seems to do these days .

And what was it like to be involved in a race that produced an estimated 175 passes?

"I think every rider loves to overtake other riders, and it's really nice when this happens. But there is always some way to overtake riders. I think most of the time with some riders, it's too aggressive," Dovizioso said.

Can you give an example?

"Everybody did everything within the rules. Everything OK, but really on the limit. I think there are some overtakes when you enter very fast at the end, which can happen. But if you are doing this intentionally, it means you want to do that, and this is bad."

we all see and judge situations basing on how they are shown to us. I did read and listen to their English interviews, which sounded different and softer than the ones in Italian. Rossi was pretty hard on Dovi while commenting the situation with the Italian media.

In case you or anyone that will read our exchange of messages speaks or understands the language here's the video:

he whined like a baby saying that Dovi should have let him go and that he would have ended up on the podium, had Dovi not overtook him.

IMHO that is unfair and pretentious.

I saw your complete post before your ninja edit [emoji41]. I didn’t see anything offensive or bad with your original post though.

I didn’t think it was such a bad whine, he mostly seemed just disappointed not to have finished on the podium having ridden well, didn’t demonise Dovi etc .

However as Povol said in an earlier discussion of the move, he has perhaps been accustomed to riders giving way to him for so long that he unconsciously expects same. He has made similar moves countless times himself, the immediate re-pass being pretty much a patented Rossi move, and in this case probably Dovi’s only chance to finish ahead of Valentino in the race. It is called racing for a reason.

I didn't do that well the last time I interpreted an Italian link of yours, but I will see if this sounds any worse to me than his self-righteous English statement. Thanks for the link.

ahahah well...

Let me make one thing clear. I am not doing an anti-Rossi campaign as it might look from the surface. And despite being a Dovi fan I am not pissed because he complained about him, either. I graduated from kindergarten in 1996 so I'm done with this stuff.

But this is motorcycle racing: if a guy finished in front of you he was either faster than you, smarter than you, or both things. The "yeah but IF......" is pointless IMHO. Blaming a guy that has just beaten you of preventing you from finishing on the podium is beyond pointless...

Rossi raced really well on sunday and I mean it. He himself is the first person that doesn't need this drama....

I thought both Rossi and Dovi's whining was pretty disappointing after such an excellent race. I totally agree with your points though.

I guess I'm more disappointed in Dovi because I expect it from Rossi.

100%. Dovi didn't talk well either after the race, I have no problem stating that. I understand a rider doesn't enjoy all these aggressive overtakes as much as we public do, but still

What is quite interesting is that IMO we are starting to see a bit of a generational difference when it comes to hard racing. The younger generation have no problem with swapping paint for the most part and just carry on while the older ones complain after or during the race far more often.

Rossi has no problem swapping paint as long as he is the instigator . I really think he feels he is owed something when it comes to positions on a race track. These kids today don’t have the history of kissing the ring and Rossi is just another obstacle in their way and he cannot fathom it.

Hmmmm. Maybe contradictory. But I understand.

I think awhile back most of the "Rossi haters" here, turned out not to hate Rossi as much for his racing as for his nonsense off the track, and that the Yellow mob was what really annoyed these "hating" race fans. That is certainly my case. There have been a few really bad moves by Rossi, which I could swallow, if he and his minions would just do the same for the other racers.

He has said as much. Remember that he stated that no one should be racing him who was not in title contention. What a manipulative egotist. LOL.
