2018 Motul TT Assen

For a bunch of guys who purport to disdain incivility that pushes people away from the forum you sure don’t act like it. What would your poor martyred Saint Tatlock think of you?

I don't think Synn could ever be accused of disdaining incivility and to be fair I doubt he would claim to do so.

Check back in a while pyeman, these things usually die down over time. It would be good to see you posting again once the internet warriors have had their fill of drama.

L O L, sadly no

I’ve been following this forum for well over 8 years now and I can assure you that the drama here never, EVERdies down or disappears. Not even for a race weekend. It’s actually amazing seeing the culture of making massive posts based solely on trying to belittle others has managed to carry on from year to year. This place is like a country that had a civil war start 300 years ago and has passed down from generation to generation, and now the people who fight it now don’t even know why they are fighting it, but it’s all they know at this point. That’s just the way of powerslide.net, oh I mean motogpforum.com.

I am so sincere when I say that too; it never ends. Fail safe I don’t think we have ever made it a race weekend without it lol. I’ve honestly never seen anything like it; not even two stereotypical skinny drunk off their ... white girls fighting over the same guy argue like the dudes on this forum. The only thing you can do is read past it and act like it’s not even there because it happens in every thread every weekend.

Anybody has a greater insight from day 1?
I must say Yamaha seems a real deal here (and it should..), Ducati iiiis there but not quite, they will definitely fight for podium and Marquez is a question mark, but it's Marquez so he should fight for win.

Marquez has the race pace necessary to be on the podium.

Not sure about Vinales. Rossi was a bit up and down with his times on the hard rear. Still unsure about the Ducatis on race pace. I think a lot of these guys get carried away with trying to set qualifying laps at the end of FP2 while MM is running a near full race sim. Kind of bodes ill for them in some regards.

Albert would thank us for standing up in his memory.

RIP Tatlock.

But you do have a habit of sticking your craw into everything, so what does that say about you?

We call out ........ when we see it.

Three posts into the thread, Pyehole commenced klogging. He got called out on it - politely - and lashed out again.

When he got pulled up on it, he cried, said he was quitting, and is back after 20 minutes.

I'm not surprised you didn't notice any of the above. Or did you choose to ignore it?

So Mav finally looks strong again. The Yamahas generally look good, and even Syahrin is right on Zarco.

Pretty ironic from a guy who spends half his time bitching about things that happened to people you never met that occurred years before you ever heard of this forum. Your theme song should be the Rolling Stones Look at that stupid girl.

I have good relationships/friendships with members outside of this forum. Nothing you can claim to have.

Still doesn't change the fact that you piggyback onto all drama and have a need to insert yourself into business that doesn't concern you.

You have friends? You sure it’s not just voices in your head?

What amazes me about the current state of MotoGP.
The Yamaha was supposed to be the most forgiving, versatile motorcycle there, with a base set up that works well in almost every circuit. The Honda, the polar opposite.

The roles seem completely reversed now. Multiple reports have said Yamaha doesn’t do revolutionary changes, only evolution. The only thing that has changed drastically over the years? Tyres.

I'll stand up for jps being a solid dude off the forum. As for you I'm doubtful, I try to steer clear off back alleys and trailer park meth labs. Which I'm sure is the only place you can be found with your flip phone that doesn't text.

The Michelin tires are garbage. Not that the Bridgestones were without issue at times, but nothing like with what we are seeing currently every race. Year 3 of Michelin and the front tire folds like a player faced with all-in at a poker table. They inspire no confidence at all since it's not like you even get the same construct front from race to race.

Almost seems like Yamaha is still trying to design their bike around corner speed and these tires aren't corner speed friendly unless the variables all come together on a given weekend which hasn't happened since last year's TT.

Spec tires are obnoxious since it just forces everyone to design to the tire rather than design the bike to what they want it to do. But gotta close up that field!

What I don't understand is how Yamaha was so strong in 2016 (Rossi's raw race pace in early to mid 2016 was probably the best on the grid - he was even qualifying really well). My suspicion is that the IMU and Spec ECU software was still being sorted by Honda and Ducati so Yamaha's weakness was not so obvious. Once Ducati and Honda made the step with the electronics, Yamaha have struggled since (coupled with their chassis woes in 2017).

Yes, that is what I am thinking too.
That said (although it might be too early to say this), Yamaha may have been sandbagging at the Barcelona test, not chasing lap times, instead, focusing o getting things right. Assen might be a Yamaha circuit, but the way Vinales and Rossi were cornering looked completely different from the races before.
