Thanks for taking the time to do this. I think even though it does provide a tighter championship, it also provides the opportunity for championship by attrition. That is, if you have an injury or bad weekend, you're ....... GP lets you have one or two DNFs and not completely take you out of the standings. In a sport where injuries are just lurking around every corner or jump, in practice or race, combined with a breakneck schedule of races every weekend, the fastest rider, and a bottom feeder in terms of tactics and talent like Reed, are kept in the hunt.
