That was funny. Never thought of this guy to be a ...... If you did something so blatantly obvious, at least have the balls to admit it... along with the consequences. But not this guy. He's untouchable, and he knows it. Or would have never risked the championship if he knew he couldn't get away with it. And not being black-flagged was confirmation of that, so he had time to think what BS to say for many laps. THAT's a disgrace of a racer and person. But this time he went too far, and at least Marquez had the balls to not letting Rossi get away with everything he did to him past and present (including crashing him twice on purpose). And even though I'm not a fan of Marquez(and even less of Lorenzo -another diva, like Rossi), Rossi got what he deserved, which was losing the championship. And Lorenzo deserved to win, and would have done so easily with a Sepang Rossi disqualification.
Just wanted to say I'm a middle-aged guy, who has never idolized anything or anybody, and call things like they are, based on pure merit (something good, either a car, bike, company, or person, can turn bad at any time). Well, people don't turn bad suddenly; they just show us who they really are under the 'right' circumstances. Like a friend you think is your friend, until he's not. He was never your friend. Or in case of Rossi, the person you thought he was. You just didn't know it before. That's why making athletes role models just because they win is absolutely moronic. Just like the 'honorary' doctorate degree you alluded to, they don't deserve it.
Going back to the subject. I'd call Rossi a 'PATHETIC SORE LOSER WHO THINKS HE'S WELL ABOVE OTHERS'. But it's too long for a nickname. Ha ha. Having said that, I'm not sure how many riders are just like him (probably many; we just haven't found out yet). But this coming from a 36-yr-old dude is truly sad. What a way to tarnish your carefully crafted fake persona. But he can only blame himself.
As far as the last race in Valencia, Marquez and Pedrosa were going to decide the race one way or the other. And either result would have pissed fans off regardless. So might as well not do anything stupid that would risk crashing the deserved winner. That's exactly what I'd have done. And yes, teach Rossi a lesson at the same time: you're not getting what you want this time
.
Having said that, hope everybody involved cools off during the season, and come back more humble the next. And also hope Dorna/FIM learned their lesson too: You can't turn a blind eye for ratings anymore. And yes, that Lorenzo tones down his inner diva too. Ha ha. I just want to watch good racing, whoever wins. Same in F1. Now need to beat this cancer to make sure I'm around for next season. He he. Have a good one folks.
